I searched for a thread like this but haven't found anything so....
This could be an official thread for it, anyone excited and pre-ordered it?
Coming off the great prequel it'll be tough to follow it on the PSP since not many owners will aknowledge this....does anyone think that this "should" have been a spin-off rather then a sequel considering more and more PS3 owners are aknowledging this game from word of mouth? Or do you think it's the right move by SEGA?
Darn, I misread the title of this thread as Valkyria Chronicles III and I was excited about the possibility of a new Valkyria Chronicles game on the PS3. I don't have a PSP so chances are that I won't be playing this game.
I'm excited! Since Valkyria Profile is pretty much the only PS3 game I want, having an improved sequel on a system I already own is wonderful! All I need to do now is play the demo so I can see how it works on a portable system, and if I'm sold, I'm pre-ordering it!
Apparently, if you want Valkyria Chronicles 3 on PS3 (since there's plans of VC3 on a secret site already) then you'll have to support Valkyria Chronicles 2 on PSP.
Sounds like a bad business move....but I am buying it reguardless for the gameplay (and not for the prospect of it being on PS3). The team wanted it on PSP to expand their audience...but a PR stunt like that sounds insulting to the team AND the consumers...
It's also a lose-lose situation (from what some members have said), as if its a success it'll stay on PSP whereas if it's a failure they'll think the series have flopped when some fans are boycotting to get it ON the PS3 so.,..yeah.

Well, it was the only sensible business move. Sega had an Okami situation. Great game, critics praise it but still nobody buys it and it's viewed a failure (speaking merely in profits for the company). Sales did rebound slightly but that was mostly due to a $30 price drop . They realize they have a decent fanbase for the game so they develop a sequel for the cheaper platform to develop for (PSP). It would be a risky move to shell out millions developing the sequel on the PS3 when in reality, there is still a good chance VCII isn't going to sell that well outside of Japan no matter what console it's on. No company will ever admit that is directing their motives/actions regarding some of their series.
I'm buying it though, along with Okamiden. As far as I'm concerned, we fans should just be happy we are actually getting a sequel to these two games, I know I am. Like you said, maybe VCIII will be on the PS3 down the line. Every Japanese company has a game/series like this (Capcom: Okami, Sega: Valkyria Chronicles, Square-Enix: Dragon Quest (though thankfully Square-Enix did some serious advertising for it), Nintendo: Chibi-Robo!, ATLUS: Etrian Odyssey (though ATLUS is awesome and just releases practically everything they publish overseas regardless of how good or bad it's projected to do).)

I understand the business side of things but telling the fans to buy this to get it on PS3 brings out the wrong message. I know it may not sell that good (on PSP or otherwise) but asking the fans to "do their bit" is abit....I dunno....abit like they are desperate.
I mean, Capcom didn't ask their fans to buy Okamiden to get the next Okami on the console so why did SEGA have to?
I'm happy we're getting the game still but from the reactions of other boards...it seems the sales will be lower since a few fans reacted more or less with "SEGA are desperate...we are being manipulated to buy it to get it on PS3....the series is done....not buying", which is a shame as I think they would have bought it anyway if SEGA didn't say that.
sup, I will give you advice if you ask. FC: Wii Console:3985-2203-0804-1295 SSBB:0173-0975-3949 MKW:3738-0981-3164 Toribash:3481-69299534 HG-1162-1907-7904 Goldeneye:514439432409
I need to get this game having recently fallen in love with Valkyria Chronicles on PS3. It's a sequel though, right? I should finish the PS3 one first.

Yep it's a sequel...pretty awesome one at that....it's more mission based so you can have more fun gameplay wise moreso then the story.
The first game is as tough as nails! Hope you beat it as it is worth it!
Edit: From the SEGA Blogs (They are free...don't worry as they are giving them away!)

I might get it once I get my first pay check. Or I may just buy enough reeses to last me the whole year, since the vending machines around here only work once a year.
