What's a "Torture Gamer", you ask? It's a gamer that loves to torture himself/herself with a really hard game. Here we will talk about games, things in games, and minigames that make us satisfyingly cringe our teeth in frustration. So, to start off this topic, I'll list the torture games that I have played. Here's the list:
I Wanna Be The GuyKaizo Mario WorldIkarugaN (if that counts)Bullet GBA

V8, you'd also like the Jumper series, I suspect. Jumper 1 and 2 are single-screen platformers like N but with tighter physics. Jumper 3 is easy to complete since you can skip levels by collecting coins, but completing all levels will take a lot of deaths. The physics are oddly much looser than N's, and it's consequently hard to control. I enjoyed it though, just not as much as the original, despite awesome art style and sound.
Come on, friends,
To the bear arcades again.

Thanks for the Recommendations! I'll have to try them out after I play the other six freeware games I have that I haven't played at all (I hear about games, download them, and never play them XD).

Rather than listing each NES game, we might as well just deem it the torture console.

I'd agree. NES games were hard, especially games that weren't stage separated.

Um. Anyway. I'm not a big fan of Platform Hell games. Played Kaizo Mario World and I Wanna Be The Guy, didn't really find either of them fun for more than a few minutes. Ikaruga is excellent though, and I love playing games on the hardest setting once I've cleared the previous ones. Although that's probably because I'm a huge incurable completionist. Seriously, I 100%'d Shadow The Hedgehog, despite not liking it at all (well, obviously not every single possible story route, that would be ridiculous - just got all the S Ranks and whatnot). Super Hard Mode inclusive. That probably classes as Torture Gaming, actually.

If you want to do a strikeout, type hyphens around the text you wish to strike out.
I find "platform hell" (is that a common term? I've only ever heard of bullet hell) games hilarious just to see what cheap tricks the creator will pull, not as a game I will seriously try to complete.

Platform Hell is a common term for those sorta games, aye.
And thanks for the strikout tip. This place has some strange BBCode rules sometimes

I agree, the stupid over the top traps are more entertaining than the game usually

Please don't relate my stupid phrasing to extremely odd things that will turn this topic into one of those "Awkward Moment" topics. And besides, I also added "with a really hard game", so please don't go accusing me of stuff I didn't say. For some clarification, I like to fail and see people fail, which is one reason why I like (insert game genre) Hell games so much. I like to remind myself that people (including me) will fail at some things no matter what.

@Adam..... I have to disagree, there are torture game across all platforms as in my list I have all the games I played in the last month that will torture you. Ninja Gaiden Sigmas and Demon Souls are two of the hardest games released in a LONG Time. Ninja Gaiden Sigma 2 is so freakin hard that nobody in the WORLD holds a Platinum Trophy. Most of NES difficulty came from console limitation.

Erm, it was a joke, Slappy Bag, but I didn't say that, anyway. I was just saying all NES games are hard, not that hard games are exclusive to the console. Of course, it was an exaggeration anyway. No one in his right mind would say there is a shred of difficulty in Kirby's Adventure... or a shred of fun, for that matter. But in general, it is often the challenge-seeker's console of choice, regardless of what reason you attribute to the difficulty, console limitation or otherwise. There is a reason weird people like myself still have fond memories of crappy games like Dragon's Lair.

F-Zero X is impossible for me on the default difficulty.
Still love it, though I greatly prefer the original.
