I think the beta ended last night. It was fun, though. Parts of it were REALLY fun. I'm still slightly up in the air on it, though. It reminds me a lot of games like Phantasy Star Online where it's KIND OF like an MMO, but definitely not when you step back and consider the whole package. There are bigger "staging" areas where lots of players can be, and then when you go into specific missions you you have 1-3 players (at least in the beta).
You also have very typical CoD-like multiplayer arenas that you can que up for and stuff, but that's where I really started disliking the game. The competitive multiplayer felt like a failed mix between Halo and Crysis multiplayer, at least to me, with a dash of CoD thrown in. Movement didn't feel as fluid and snappy as Titanfall, and I feel that lots of balancing needs to be considered amongst the classes and heavy weapons.
Just my opinions! If I buy it, it won't be for the competitive stuff, but for the cooperative adventure stuff.
I didn't play the Beta, but if I can turn on a private or friends only mode so I don't run into random people I will get it day one. It's not too far fetched considering they have said they want to make so people who want single-player can enjoy it too.
for anyone who is planning on playing Destiny on the PS4, and is still looking for a group of friendly and mature players to do some PvE and PVP with, me and my friends got a group going and we're still looking for more players, especially ouf course for the 6-player raids. If you're interested, check here:
Wow I can tell consoles gamers from PC gamers big time with the raid decisions. If this had been a PC game no one would be complaining, PC games have been doing this for years with MMOS, World of Warcraft, Everquest, Lord of the Rings Online just to name a few. I don't understand why people are so upset yeah you need people on your friend list but does it have to be people you actually know? Just keep you eyes on sites like Pushsquare or other game forums or heck even the Destiny forums themselves. You will see a bunch of "guild" recruitment threads pop up.
I have been playing World of Warcraft for years and honestly I don't know any of my guild members in RL but I have grown pretty close to some of them to consider them some of my closest friends. Heck I didn't know any of you on Nintendolife before I joined but some of you I would consider friends now.
So I dont get the big deal.

So anyone around here picking this game up. I am going to have to wait till I get the money to pick it up and I even had to cancel my preorder. Hopefully I will be getting it his holiday season.

I would have gotten it, if it came to a system I own... not going to buy a new console for another version of Borderlands...
People keep saying the Xbox One doesn't have Backwards Compatibility.
I don't think they know what Backwards Compatibility means...

i saw part of the livestream from ign where they played the game. it looked super boring. when you die you just get respawned 5 seconds later. that's not what mmo is to me. there should be a real punishment for when you die. if not how will you get sucked into the world and really care about your character? the folks on ign rushed through the levels like they didnt really care about anything. it looked like call of duty but mmo-like.

i thought the game would be deeper and more epic.
But have you SEEN Destiny? (Have you played it, because b4 the beta I saw folks with the same opinion, which changed).

I want it to turn out good but I am worried by all the secrecy with the reviews. It's almost like Activision aren't confident enough with the game's first impression to let anyone review it on day one. I guess they think it will benefit from having reviewers get completely sucked in before they give it a score.

To be fair, as the game is built around an online experience, having a review that is completely isolated from that wouldn't give the best impression of the game.

It's like, I just love a cowboy
You know
I'm just like, I just, I know, it's bad
But I'm just like
Can I just like, hang off the back of your horse
And can you go a little faster?!

True but I'm surprised Activision didn't give the press a month of their own dedicated servers to review it to make sure they got a good score. Maybe Activision are actually so confident in the game that they don't need to do that.

That and they don't want people to know that the PS4 version is almost the same as the PS3 version, since Sony and Microsoft want people to think its should only be played on next gen systems.
