Topic: The Destiny Thread

So by now I am sure that you are all aware of Halo creators new game Destiny. E3 had and amazing trailer for the game and Alpha invites are going out this weekend. It's been described as a Halo meets Borderlands with a bit of an MMO thrown in for good measure. It;s launching on PS4, PS3, Xbox One and Xbox 360.

So far I have been watching my son play the Alpha and I have to say what an amazing game. Now I am not that big of a FPS fan I mean except for GoldenEye, Doom, and Borderlands I really haven't played that many FPS. I don't know if its the MMO aspects of the game, the story or what but right now this is my must have game for the PS4, and I can't wait to try it out tonight.

I love the idea of the world events where you and several other players can get together to take on a random spawned event.

Anyone else in the Alpha and if so what are your thoughts. Heck even if you are not in the Alpha feel free to discuss Destiny here.

You are going to enjoy it. I haven't even played it just watched my son play it and I was amazed at this game. Clearly a candidate for GOTY.

Good to hear the game is good after the decidly lack of hype up until now. I have the game pre-ordered and have a beta code for the 360/ONE.

Is it MMO in the traditional WOW sense or it is more along the lines of PSO?

@shingi_70: From what I have heard is that you will see other people in the world but they will be around your level. I read that they had some kind of system that matches players to other players of their own level, that way you dont get some level 100 idiot running around killing things in a level 1 zone and not leaving anything for the lower levels to fight. Other then that I haven't really delved into the multiplayer aspect of the game. My son when he was playing the Alpha did come across a time event but no one was around to help him and he couldn't beat it by himself.

Beta starts today for the PS4 if you preordered the game you are in (as long as you got your code). Can't wait till after work to play me some Destiny.

My son has been playing nonstop. Seems to be a lgood mix of old and new ideas, it isn't ultra complicated but still deeper than old shooters. Seems a bit less fluid than the alpha was (PS4) but it probably still has plenty of optimizationon. Really looking forward to the whole thing, I'm trying to hold off from playing so it feels nice and shny when it is released in a couple of months!

Why the "unofficial" label? Is there gonna be an "official" one?

I would totally play the beta, but I don't have a beta code, and I actually did try to get one.

@Unca_Lz: I thought that it was against the rules for anyone to create an "official thread" except for staff.

@SCAR392: I know you have an Xbox One but I dont remember if you have a PS4. If you do have a PS4 I have a few extras if you want.

Thanks, but ya, I only have an Xbox One. I know I can pre-order the game and get a code, but I would have rather just gotten the code and not pre-order.

Only got my code today so I'm a little late. Very excited though.

Why would they do that?

They were giving out beta codes on IGN, pre-order or not. I don't know why they would do that.

So I played the beta on my cousin's PS4. It pretty good. I only saw like 1 hour worth or so, but there's a nice little town area to to shop and interact with other online players.

Hopefully I get a Xbox One code tomorrow . Looking forward to the full game.

I think it's better than Borderlands. They aren't exactly the same game, obviously, but I do think Destiny does a better job of doing what what it does. You can travel to different planrts and lots of of other things, which gives the game an extensive amount of play time. I didn't know the game was going to be like this at all.

This is why I wanted the beta code on Xbox One, wothout a pre-order, because I wouldn't really know aht I would be buying, but the PS4 beta made me want to buy it on my Xbox One One, for sure.
