I agree, check that your virus protection thingamabobby isn't blocking access. I recently installed Windows Live OneCare (I'm using every free trial I can get before I pay for virus protection), and in the background a message appeared saying that it was blocking "hl2" from accessing the internet. Since I was in-game at the time, I couldn't do anything about it until I closed TF2 and saw the message. In your game, try pressing the Windows key to go to the desktop, see if any pop ups have appeared, and then click back onto TF2.
Yeah i doubted what my friend thought. Aw well il try what u say Wiiloveit. But like at the lobby everything it blank. I checked to see if the preferences were screwed, but it wasn't so i'l do that.
So far I've only used Steam to play the Half Life series and Portal -- plus the fantastic fan-made level packs for Portal -- on my Macbook (yep, that's right, no installation of Windows required due to the CodeWeavers team). I've never been interested in online multiplayer for these kinds of games, though.

Right guys, as announced on Steam itself, our first "event thing" is due to be an Audiosurf comp. Here's the details...
Our first "thing" is going to be an Audiosurf competition. Every day, a new song will be chosen and the person with the highest score at the same time on the next day will win. This chat is so that we can decide which songs to choose! If you can't make it, send me a message with a song you'd like to be played and I'll mention it during the chat meeting.
The group chat for suggesting songs is Monday at 6pm my time (1pm EST, methinks).
And don't forget to invite more people to join the group!
Hooray for Audiosurf! I really liked the idea of using video game tracks, but, of course, we'd have to make sure everyone has access to the same ones. I won't be able to make the chat meeting, however, as I'll be at work until about 6:30 pm my time (something like 11:30 your time I believe).
Thanks for the input anyway, Brutus! And yes, we will be using video game music, since quite a lot of tracks are available for free, legal download online, and won't have many other high scores already
Oh, and just so you know guys: I've got to buy Audiosurf just to make this contest happen
I can't make the chat either. Or at least I don't think I can. When you say US time, does that mean Eastern time? We have four time zones, excluding Hawaii and maybe Alaska (not sure about that one, better ask our resident penguin, Cow Launch).
Could we just suggest songs via here, and each person get one or two picks? Or maybe you could just decide since you're The Man With The Plan?
I can't make the chat on any weekday at that time for the next 2 weeks. Is it possible to bump it back a few hours? Most people in the US are at work or school at ~1pm. (In my case I believe 6pm your time is Noon in Central time where I live.) Otherwise we'll have to make the suggestions in this thread *I suggest soem Final Fantasy or some World of Goo to start.

Some World of Goo would be ace. What do you guys think to the song "Rain Rain Windy Windy"? I don't have any FF music though myself, so you guys will have to discuss that amongst yourselves.
We could also do with something from Toki Tori - which song does everybody else think would be best? I'd say the theme song, myself. If you don't already have this, the soundtrack is available at www.tokitori.com.
In addition to these, I'd also be happy to use and supply to everyone the Wii/DSi Shop Channel background music, the theme tune to Brawl or even Big Brain Academy, the Super Mario World tune from Brawl or the Block Plaza music from Mario Kart Wii. I don't want to dominate the tracklist though, so we don't HAVE to use all these.

Rain Rain Windy Windy might be a little slow-paced. Audiosurf tends to be more fun and more challenging with something peppier...it's up to you, but I anticipate that the level for that song would be pretty long and flat! Something like Tumbler might be more exciting.
