Can it play PSP games? Is it like the PSP Go then?

If it can play PSP games and the download service is reliable then I'm intrigued...

Looks interesting to say the least, but Sony always seems to price all their new hardware just outta my reach.

It has no Sony logo on it except where it says Sony Ericson I thought it was a fake when I first saw it.

Well... it would be a Sony Ericson product, given that all the other phones from Sony Ericson are Sony Ericson.

I reckon they're running interference. The product makes sense, Sony has the capabilities (thanks to Ericson) to make the product, and it would differentiate the PSP from both the 3DS and iPhone (Buttons... but it's still a phone).

I would be disappointingly surprised if it turned out to be a fake.

Slapshot

If its true and comes to my local carrier I will instant buy it as I could then play PSP/Psone games on my phone and regain buttons as I hate the touch screen controls on my Hero.

It would be cool if it was like a simple touch screen phone normally, but when you slide it open you can use the buttons and play games and such!

This is very cool. If it gets all the apps iPhone, Android, and now Blackberry's are getting along with the PSP Go store, this would be a really great buy for gamers on the go. Honestly, what will make this a success or not will be if it has the non-gaming functionality of iPhone/Droid phones. When people's contracts expire will they upgrade to this or to a new iPhone or Droid which they can transfer all of their previous apps to? It's going to have to really be able to do what most people use their smartphones for now well to convince people to give up what they currently are using and probably are happy with.

However, if it does launch with a great selection in its "app store," (it could possibly use the Android OS - this would be the best route for them, I think), I think it would do really well. It could become THE portable gaming device for "adults." It would really hurt the 3DS in that case, because now there wouldn't be as much reason to carry two systems. 3DS would be mainly for kids and hardcore Nintendo fans.

Looking at the pictures it's pretty obvious the PSP Go was just prep for this. It seems silly, but now the PSP download store will be filled with games, because they had been releasing them for PSP Go users, so the Phone will launch with a huge PSP library.

I am way too lazy to think of something clever.

Assuming this leak is accurate / genuine, it is running the Android OS, which is interesting indeed. I'm very curious to see how the new mobile space pans out, if Sony has decided to join in with the Android app world and just offer you buttons along with an additional tier of high-end Playstation apps to download.

Nintendo certainly went the opposite direction with the 3DS, dropping the attempt to retake the quick, casual portable gaming market (pretty much created by the enormous success of the DS Lite and its touchscreen gaming, but now dominated mostly by phones) in favor of a return to the more traditional "premium" gaming of big titles and 3D. I believe it will work out for them fairly well, but it is true that there is a bizarre notion out there that it's more adult to play games on your phone rather than a dedicated device, even though most titles I see people playing on the former are anything but intelligent or engrossing.

Twitter is a good place to throw your nonsense.
