Maybe it's because Sony is used to announce things to launch 5+ years later

@FGPackers This is Kojima though, and not Sony. Trailers are kinda Kojima's thing, he considers them a game too, because in a way, people spend a lot of time trying to figure out the secrets hidden in the trailer and the hidden connections.

I expected another trailer, especially after the Emma Stone rumours from a month ago. I guess we'll see it at PSX then.

Kinda glad, though I'm biased as I have never played a Kojima game. His weird cryptic trailers were just wasting time in my eyes during the conference. Come back with actual gameplay next time.

Oh well, hopefully that makes it more likely they've asked Squenix for some FF7 footage.

It's dangerous to go alone! Stay at home.

@Dezzy
Now that is hilarious. We're never getting that FF VII remake.

@Ralizah Ha ha! I love that patch note about Rampo. I guess I wasn't the only person who was confused...

I am a little bit disappointed that there isn't anything about the last boss, but hopefully the adjusted camera, smoother controls and general QoL improvements makes up for it. Here's the full patch notes:

@Operative2-0 I'm a big Kojima fan, and even I am quite pleased to see Death Stranding being given a pass at this years E3 conference. Just like you said, I hope they decide to show us some gameplay footage next time!

:EDIT: Horizon Zero Dawn was the painting on the side of the hotel last year. This years painting is God of War, with a very calm and composed looking Kratos and the boy on a father-and-son bonding time boat trip.

:EDIT: Last but not least, Shenmue III is delayed until the second half of 2018, according to Yu Suzuki in their latest Kickstarter video update. The game won't be shown at E3 this year either, although there's a (slim) possibility that it may make an appearance at Tokyo Game Show in September.

@Peek-a-boo Ah, that explains a lot, didn't know what their purpose was. I think I found two. I missed a lot of stuff in the third level, and I'm not sure how many collectibles were hidden in the rain world, that felt pretty straightforward.

Shemue delay isn't surprising (happens to every Kickstarter, doesn't it?). Three years is still pretty short, from starting development to delivering the game.

God of War teaser looks good. Let's say I'm intrigued. I wasn't interested in the first three games, but the shift to ND-style (isn't that what some of you guys here call it?) is an improvement IMO. I've also said I wasn't interested in Spider-Man, but after watching the trailer again, I think I want it now. If it's like Second Son, but a little less repetitive, I'll get it. All I'm hoping for is that the movement and the animations are as fluid in the final game as they were in that first teaser trailer.

I've never been much of a god of war fan (I have all of them though) and the new one seems worse. I think my concern is the kid. I don't want to babysit in a video game...I had to do that enough in Mass Effect 2. Trying to keep an open mind though. I'm pretty stoked for Spiderman though. I love hero games. I wonder if wonder woman could get her own game since the movie is doing well?

@Ryu_Niiyama A Wonder Woman game would be great! Her fighting style is very close and visceral. You could combo close up sword and shield attacks with mid-range lasso grabs and parry with the bracelets. With the fighting style and focus on greek mythology, she'd fit right into a God of War-style game (well, classic GoW, not Naughty Dog of War or whatever this new game is).

I'd also like to try a proper Superman game. Combine flying mechanics similar to Gravity Rush with open-world brawler gameplay.

@Ryu_Niiyama I'm mostly excited because it's Norse mythology. It's a more interesting foundation for a game than Roman or Greek mythology. Those two are very well documented, and it's difficult to take a lot of creative freedom. The setting and execution of those themes in the first games put me a little off. I think the upcoming GOW looks a bit closer to what I would like to play. But less weird blue shiny runes please and more awesome enemy design. I hope they keep it ''real'', don't overuse the magic stuff.

My first thought when it was clear the Wonder Woman movie was a commercial success was that I hope WB Games and Rocksteady are prepping a WW game. I think that team could do it right, they were the first to make a couple actual good Batman games (even Arkham Knight, though disappointing, wasn't terrible).

I hate the new direction for God of War and I also hate that Sony Bend also seems to be going in a more Naughty Dog direction with Days Gone. I love Uncharted and The Last of Us but not every game Sony publishes needs to be exactly like those. Let Naughty Dog do what it does and let other studios try something different. There was no need to change the gameplay style of GoW.

Gamer83

Ryu_Niiyama

@Ralizah Haha, Naughty Dog of War! Good one, and very apt. Agreed on your thoughts on how a WW gameplay could be implemented. I suppose my only thing is I would expect the game to be rated M. WW isn't a rampant murderer but she is a warrior and doesn't shy away from war and its worst case ending for an individual. So I would like the ability to kill (maybe boses only or have it run some sort of infamous meter. Kill to many and "Man's World" turns on you or something) but I doubt that would happen. It isn't required of course but it would be more authentic to the character.

Hmm Superman has always been hard. I still like Superman Returns on 360 and both of the superman games on the xbox original (sigh MS just sigh), they aren't perfect but they try to give the player some scope of his powers. Returns does it best so far imo since your "health bar" is the city of metropolis itself. You let too many people die or the city becomes too damaged and you fail. The flight in that game is fun (it can be improved but for the time...its pretty good) and you have access to the majority of Kal's powers that translate well to a video game. I would like something in the vein of the old bruce tim cartoon (the only person to make me like Batman...I loathe the character otherwise) as in the majority of the villains he fought were either stronger, more experienced (I like that they sorta started to point that out in MoS but then it fell thorough at the end...Zod should have won. At least he lost with a respectable amount of damage done.) or they had better powers so Supes had to actually think when he fought and if he did just go in swinging he got a few lumps for it. BUT NOT SUPERMAN 64! I love supes as an idea, but I feel that he has not been written well in a very long time resulting in either too much power, not enough power (does everybody have kryptonite now?), or stupidity (the dude is a walking recon unit...use that to your advantage) with too much focus on his strength.

I've been saying for a while I'd like a game with The Flash. I'm not sure if i would want it that you are seeing everything slowed down or if it should be a reflex fest by giving you the relative perspective of the world around him. Likely a mix of the two. Anything not Lego is greatly desired at this point.

@Ryu_Niiyama I think killing would be fine so long as she's fighting mythical enemies and there's not a ton of gore. God of War was a bit... brutal for my tastes. I didn't really enjoying playing a main character as relentlessly violent and perpetually angry as Kratos was.

RE: Superman, I think the most important thing is to make his movement weighted and enjoyable. This is a big part of why the Batman games worked so well, imo: the player actually felt like a part of the in-game environment. The idea of the city having a "health bar" seems kind of like a pain, though, like you would have to constantly babysit it instead of having the freedom to play around with your powers. I guess it wouldn't be uncharacteristic for the big, blue boy scout, but I'm not sure how fun it would be, as I never played the game in question (I own a 360, so maybe I'll see if I can track a copy down...)

Not a fan of Batman? I'm not the biggest fan of Bruce himself, but I absolutely adore the Batman universe. It's a lovely combination of dark noir and ridiculous superhero tropes, and sometimes they come together perfectly.

Since you mentioned the Animated Series... have you seen Mask of the Phantasm? I absolutely adore that movie.

I'd like to see a (good) Deadpool game, personally.

Didn't realize Dissidia NT was on the way. I'm curious about Vampyr...from a morality stand point it isn't my cup of tea (I mean can you really be a "good" full fledged vampire? If it is you or some random strangers I get it...but not my thing) but I think it is a different premise as there aren't a ton of vampire games. Especially ones that make you question feeding. Now if you have the choice to feed on the criminal element (and not contract something because eww) then im all in...there would be bodies everywhere in my city. I'm sorta curious about AC Origins. Granted the last one I beat was III (hated VI, and Unity was a glitch fest on my PC and just never started syndicate...its on my list), but I enjoyed the chronicles games.

@Ralizah Oh the city health bar thing was a pain... Supes still feels float-y in Returns to me but the flight mechanics are good (getting up to top speed is always fun) and when you ground yourself you have a decent combat system. In air fights suck though. I just use heat vision.

I just feel that Bruce Wayne acts so burdened and put upon as if he is the only one that ever felt loss even though despite being an orphan he got a much better deal than most others get due to his wealth (not saying money buys happiness but try being an orphan on the street or nearly the last of your kind (supes doesn't have the proper amount of angst about that given that so many like to push that CK is the disguise rather than superman) then you can act like your pain is the greatest in the world). Spiderman got that way for bit too though so it isn't just him (and it was lampshaded in One More Day ...the only thing I like about it well and the "guide" that said it.) but Bats does it best and makes me roll my eye. He comes off as pretentious as if he has all the answers (and due to fan wank he does for the most part.. just say he is precognitive and move on y'all) and that his way is the only way to do things. He is pretty much an ahole pretentious fop with money and a chip on his shoulder...and most incarnations have him being a flake as bruce wayne to "keep his secret" but he can do more good for Gotham as bruce than as batman since his rouges gallery break out every other day. I say the punisher does the angst adult male edition in a more palatable form than bats. Matter of opinion of course...half my comic book friends worship batman. I've seen all the Batman TAS movies but i don't remember most of them. I used to watch a LOT of cartoons when I was younger. Now I barely watch anything at all. No free time.

Never finished the first deadpool game (he isn't my cup of tea either...his humor isnt funny to me....no I didn't see the movie) so I can't judge.
