@Peek-a-boo Please, for the love of God: don't embed a ton of big images in a general thread like this, let alone of a horror game. I do not need a heart attack first thing in the morning, and sure as hell don't need the carpal from scrolling through a mess of screenshots again. Please, at least use bare links, especially if you're just trying to show off how pretty a game is. I mean, if you're using imgur, you can even link us the folder you got 'em in! There's no negatives to that, trust me! They're not like Photobucket, which made people sign up and have all kinds of traffic restrictions. We'll get to enjoy it just as much, if not moreso, because then it won't slow down the loading of the page.

Dat.

Thanks.

@Peek-a-boo Yeah, that's why I like the last part of the game, because enemies suddenly become a threat again. It's a nice twist. I like the environments too, believable, yet scary. I probably would've spend hours in a single room looking around for little details. Glad to see that there's a good big budget horror game again, for a while it looked liked the genre was disappearing into obscurity.

Seeing as E3 details from others are starting to come out (Microsoft has announced their conference for June 11th 10pm UK time), what do you think Sony will do for their presentation.

@Grumblevolcano Showing games I hope. Days Gone, Detroit, God of War, Uncharted Lost Legacy, Spiderman, FFVII Remake, we're still waiting for GT Sports, Knack 2, Shenmue 3. I don't expect TLOU 2, but who knows? And maybe another trailer for Death Stranding, because Kojima loves them. Other than that, I hope a lot of new games.

@CanisWolfred Apologies all around. I remember you asking me to link images last year some time, which I temporarily did, only for me to swiftly forget whilst I was leafing through my Resident Evil VII photos. At least you can see the logo in all its low-resolution glory!

@Octane Hold on a minute... have you played Resident Evil VII? You kind of made it out to be that you were too nervous to play it on the page prior to this one, or perhaps I have misinterpreted your words.

@Grumblevolcano There are far too many games coming out in the next couple of months (at least on the PlayStation 4) to care about E3. We're seeing lots of Japanese games making waves since the beginning of this year, after a long and overdue absence.

I would like to see a new IP from one of the big in-house studios though, as well as a concrete release date for Gran Turismo Sport.

@Peek-a-boo Hehe, no, I haven't played it, and I don't think I ever could (certainly not a blind playthrough), but I did watch a stream and I treated it like a 6-hour horror film. Horror games aren't my thing, but weirdly enough, I do like horror films. I just don't like the idea of being in control when I know a jump scare is going to happen.

On the topic of E3, we still don't know what Sucker Punch is up to, and it's been three years since Infamous Second Son...

CanisWolfred

@Octane Yeah, what are they up to? I kinda miss them...but I still haven't played Second Son, so I don't miss them that much...Man, if they do come back, I hope they do something different. I love their comicbook enthusiast bent with their games, but there's gotta be something new they can do with it that isn't just more sandbox action-platforming...

Lock's Quest HD is coming to the PS4* in April. I bought this for the DS back in December for $5. It's pretty legit, though I feel like I should've waited on it now. Eh.

*And also on the PeeCee and Xbone, for you non-PeeS4urs

EDIT:

While I'm at it, I'm reminded that there's still Atelier Firis on the way (which I might just skip to. I haven't finished any of the PS3 entries, but this one looks legit), as well as Ni no Kuni II (I also still have to finish the first game, but now I'm genuinely motivated to play through it. I had mixed feelings before because of how much I wanted it to be great, but now I just need the story more than anything, so I can enjoy the sequel to its fullest, which already looks far and away improved over the first one). Add to that Guilty Gear Xrd Rev 2 is now on its way to the west, and my previous goal of spending less on new games is getting harder and harder...but I can still do it.

However, that doesn't mean I have to skip free-to-play games, though! So yeah, Skyforge looks amazing! I still got Hawken, too.

@CanisWolfred Second Son was alright I think. Got a bit repetitive trying to 100% the map, at least I got my GTA-style open world city fix out of it. Would love to see them doing something different though..

Talking about different, is Dreams still a thing? It feels like that game is in development hell. I kinda wish they went for a more straight forward game and had something to release around this time.

Dreams is the little big Planet folks, right? I remember it looking very beautiful

Oh, it's from the little big planet guys? That's why I instantly forgot about it. Those guys don't usually sit well with me. I mean, I loved Tearaway, so I guess I shouldn't be totally dismissive, but whatever they make will likely need a demo to convince me. I also never seem to agree with their visual design choices, to put it lightly...okay, I think all of their games look like they pulled it out of an elementary school art class' trashbin. I don't like criticizing a purposeful and carefully chosen visual style, but they were an active detriment to my experiences in their games, and I'm sure Dreams is...

...a total gorgeous masterpiece and a complete 180 of my previous complaints with them....huh, I guess any decent dev can learn from their mistakes...

I expect Sony's press conference to be either 5 hours after, or the next day from Microsoft. Got to have that intern in the MS set rewriting the scripts to one up them again.

No I'm not dropping that. It was absolute gold the speed at which they jumped on that in 2013.

Now Streaming: Sonic Lost World, Just Cause 3

Yeah, I think @Octane and I watched the same Easy Allies Twitch stream of RE7. It was a whole deal, lmao. From that perspective, the first three boss fights were a lot more interesting than basically the entire rest of the game. There are some very clever jump scares at the beginning too, places you walk by several times before being scared the second, third, or even forth time. Really clever stuff.

And the DLC the Resident Evil guy at that Twitch channel streamed was really quality stuff too. That being said, the torture porn blackjack game was just a bit freaking much even for someone desensitized to violence like me. The story DLC chapters are a lot better, though.

Don't hate me because I'm bnahabulous.

Octane

@Haru17 Yep, watched the same stream, although he was kinda speeding through it since it was his third playthrough iirc. I've watched some bits on another channel on YouTube that took a more laid-back approach. Since he was going in blind, it was a bit easier to follow all the plot points and easter eggs.

I thought the third and final encounter with Jack was pretty cool too. It was so over-the-top classic video game-y, but I loved that about it.

The second main boss wins my vote for most disgusting and legitimately unnerving monster I've seen in a videogame in a while.

Haru17

@Octane Gohma? Yeah, I loved that one too. I dig the classic Resident Evil 'huge monster with weak points' thing — and I have never had a problem with eye weak points — I just found the encounters with Mia, the car, and the chainsaw more interesting. Just how Mia's face would change from human to infected and vice versa when she pushed John Doe (I can't remember what the protagonist's name was) up against a wall and when she got axed in the shoulder and fell to the floor dead. I can't even imagine what that must have been like in VR.

Don't hate me because I'm bnahabulous.

Octane

@Haru17 Haha, Gohma, yes that one indeed. I felt that ''Gohma'' Jack and spider Marguerite felt the most like actual boss fights, the first encounters with Jack and Mia looked pretty scripted.

Seriously, what's wrong with that guy?
