Awesome: always wondered why they didn't have games for the Mac on there.

I can't seem to find it on iTunes though. Is this only in the US so far?

You have to update your Mac to 10.6.6.

I have 4 laptops (one work-provided) and 1 desktop in my household and they're all Windows XP / Windows 7, a Zune MP3 player, and 2 Windows 7 Phones if that gives you any idea what kind of Mac person I am.

Hey guys,

I have a nice big fancy iMac which i bought this year so I can edit my films and work on stop motion that I do... I have had a quick squiz at the Mac app store, and whilst at the moment it is still early days, I can see a whole lot of potential for it. I am just gonna make sure that I back everything up, cos I always worry what will happen if something crashes where everything is digital!

If it's anything like the App Store on the iPad and their other devices, you don't have to worry about losing your apps; you can redownload for free any app you've previously purchased, so even if your computer dies you'll just need to use the same Apple account on the new one and go get all your old apps. Of course, backups are still important for your actual media files and work, but don't worry about the apps themselves.

Twitter is a good place to throw your nonsense.

I first used a Mac when they only had black and white screens. Interesting experience, that.

My mum uses an iMac and my brother uses a MacBook Pro.

@pixelman: point taken on Flight Control, I was just noting how many "coming soon to WiiWare" games were there.
The Mini works great; having it hooked up to the TV is brilliant - I even watch my DVDs using Front Row rather than the DVD player most of the time so as to save switching devices to check email.

@V8: That's some kind of joke, right? Half-life 2 has been out for Mac on Steam for awhile now...

If you have anything running OSX 10.5 or newer I sure hope you'd be using Time Machine - best backup utility around.

Notable releases: iWork and iPhoto components are separate. A lot of graphic design/photo editing software (I just got myself Adobe CS5 Design premium, so not interested.) Prices seem reasonable. Some indie games available such as And Yet it Moves, Osmos, a couple Penny Arcade games, and a couple iOS ports. Some Popcap games are available.

Overall, I love the streamlined distribution system, and while not much is going on, Im sure itll do well in the future. I think it might be a great way for indie devs to get some games on there, especially with Apple's publicity coming from "Featured lists" if they end up on one of those. But yeah, its just a simpler way to get and maybe redownload your software from one place. I dont see major games being released on it regularly though.
