Anyway, I haven't seen this much praise for a game in ages.

Mario Galaxy 2?

Also, we're getting one of those this year. And GTA 5. And Watch Dogs. That's without mentioning some of the lesser-known games; stuff like Pikmin 3, Rayman Legends, SMT IV, etc. And that's without stuff we don't know.

Yeah, this is going to be the best year in gaming since 2007.

This got me curious, so I looked at the metacritic all time list. Last of Us has moved up to 96 in a crowded field, Super Mario Galaxy 1 and 2 sits at 97, and GTA IV is king at 98.

I admit, I didn't find GTA IV very much fun to play.

Hold A/X to run. Who's idea was that again? I did like the Ballad of Gay Tony at least, but it still lacked a lot of the fun that San Andreas offered many years before it.

Rockstar have kinda let me down a lot this generation. GTAIV was a snoozefest, Max Payne 3 was a disappointment and Red Dead Redemption was glorified time sink.
I quite liked LA Noire (I know they didn't develop it, Team Bondi did), but it fell into the same pitfalls as RDR. Too much of the game feels like you're just waiting around for the plot to kick in.

I also wish they would stop ripping off scenes and characters from well known films and I wish reviewers would stop praising them for their blatant plagiarism.

This has been my most anticipated game since its announcement and I'm thrilled it appears to have lived up to the hype. I'll be there the second the store opens to pick up my pre-order and the season pass. Btw, love some of the butthurt in this thread. Sony paid for the reviews, really? This may be shocking to some but there are developers besides Nintendo and those exclusive to Nintendo who can make fantastic games and Naughty Dog is, without a doubt, one of the best.

Ever since first seeing this game at E3 last year I think its just an overhyped, generic third person shooter. I am personally not wasting my money on this, specially since the only thing going for it right now is a bunch of biased reviews sony paid for.

Have you actully done any research on this game outside of hearing it's a third-person shooter? Or do you think all third-person shooters are generic? Plus if Sony was paying for reviews, GameSpot wouldn't have given it a 8.

Between E3 2012 and PAX Priime 2012 I have had plenty of time with the game, so yeah. And I never said sony paid everyone, but lets just say GTA IV was far more deserving of those mysterious 10/10s it got.

GameSpot is a fairly big site for gaming news, if your gonna pay a bunch of people off, then you would probably pay them off too.

The funny thing is The Last Of Us is not actually a 3rd person shooter...

I've got it pre-ordered the demo was good but very short, i think the point of the demo was to show you the enemies "Clickers" and thay are brutal. It's save to say the full game is going to be very good.

A first impression would be the title screen on the game menu. I'm not that ignorant.

First things first, lol.

Second, a first impression is not looking at a title screen. It's more like the first hour of the game.

That's the point I was trying to make. I was calling a first impression the first 1-3 hours into the games(like you said). A first impression would literally be the title screen, though, that's why I said that I wasn't being as ignorant as judging a game off of its title screen.

Besides, it's pretty obvious that we have different tastes when it comes to games. If you enjoy a game all the way through, and I put it down 1-3 hours into the game, that would come off as being ignorant. I'm being called ignorant(or a fanboy sometimes), because I genuinely don't like a game.
Same thing with why I don't like PS3 that much. If you like PS3, and I don't, explaining why doesn't matter, because it won't change your mind. That comes off as being ignorant to some.

POST #4. That's my entertainment setup. The PS3 is on the top left of the entertainment center. This was a few months back.

Fair enough.

You do come arcoss as awfully bias against Sony (specifically, the Playstation brand) in your posts. Something to work on, maybe?

Oh. My. God.

Seriously, people wonder why so many people were disapointed by what Nintendo offered at E3 and the Last of Us shows why.

The gameplay isn't that great, the stealth is okay.

What makes the game so amazing is the story, the interactions between Joel and Ellie. It's perfection.

I would rather not play any games for the rest of my life if it meant I could play this forever.

Isn't the gameplay and stealth broken on purpose? I thought the whole point was you aren't some uber trained Military dude and like in real life stealth never really works for the common man, especially in the type of world Joel and Ellie live in.

HOping the incharted 3 team are working on something more like Jak and Daxter.
