I know that there's already another topic on this site about RPGs, but I feel as if I want to focus more on the days back then instead of in general. The days back when there was an over-abundance of top-notch RPGs, mostly from Super Nintendo and Playstation 1. I'm NOT necessarily implying that every RPG in our current generation is bad, coughXenobladeChroniclescough. Really, it can apply to any decade since we're all different ages here, so maybe there's something you look up to right now in a way that not other people see it as. Personally, how I see it is that the effort put back then when people had to be more creative with limited resources and ideas should, at the very least, be noted. However, that doesn't mean this topic should just be limited to that too.
I have some 25 RPGs on the PS3. The golden age for the genre is now. What with Nier, Dark Souls, Demon's Souls, Ni No Kuni, and the best Atelier games ever.
On the Xbox? Skyrim, The Witcher 2.
The Wii is the only one that really missed out on the genre, and even them there's a couple of gems.
As for handhelds... The PSP and DS were both incredible RPG consoles. Even the iPad holds its own
You seem to be implying that PlayStation RPGs are not quality.
No Wii RPG - not even Xenoblade, compares to the finest PS3 RPGs. Whether it's WRPGs like Skyrim or Dragon Age: Origins, JRPGs like Dark Souls or Ni No Kuni, or awesome niche RPGs like Disgaea 4, Nier or the Atelier games, the PS3 has a massive range of really, REALLY good RPGs. I've been playing games in the genre for over 20 years and the PS3 is the best console I've ever owned for it.

Not gonna lie RPGs and Playstation go together like bread and butter. Yes SNES and NES had a lot but Playstation 1 and 2 have more.

Yeah Playstation had both.

While SNES has great RPGs, I can also never deny that Playstation also has it's great share of RPGs even aside from Final Fantasy. Games like Saga Frontier, Chrono Cross, Grandia, Wild Arms, Suikoden, Threads of Fate, Xenogears, Xenosaga, Tales of Destiny, Vagrant Story and many more.

Yeah Playstation had both.
I just don't want people saying that a console is automatically better just because it has more games period.
I'm not saying it's better I'm saying it's good, you just don't want it to be good because the fanboy side is getting the best of you.
What are you talking about? A fanboy is someone who blindly makes unreasonable comments. I don't want any arguments about this please.
I'm sorry I didn't mean to offend you I sincerely apologize. I'm not saying Playstation is better because it has more RPGs but it did have a lot and most of them were really good all I'm saying is that it's arguable the time of the golden era of RPGs
