Well this game just annoyed me, I fell into the underworld and was selecting a potion from my inventory to put into my bar, without thinking I grabbed my sword to defend myself from the little imps and accidentally flung my demonite sword into lava... that was so, so, so, sooooooooooooo annoying I just had to rage quit.

How anyone can think this is a better multiplayer game than single player game is beyond me. There aren't even servers so you can play with people. You need to know people who have it and are willing to play multiplayer.

Anyone else getting this while trying to launch Terraria:

System.InvalidOperationException: This resource could not be created.
at Microsoft.Xna.Framework.Audio.AudioEngine..ctor(String settingsFile,
TimeSpan lookAheadTime, String rendererId)
at Terraria.Main.LoadContent()
at Microsoft.Xna.Framework.Game.Initializer
at Terraria.Main.Initializer()
at Microsoft.Xna.Framework.Game.RunGame(Boolean useBlockingRun)
at Terraria.Program.Main(String[] args)

I get it every single time, I've contacted Steam about it and gone through their (not very helpful) support thing and told me to update the programs that run Terraria and that didn't work... freaking weird.

Not personally.

I found this thread on the official forums that might be helpful (although it hasn't been resolved yet). I suggest you keep an eye on this topic.

A quote from the thread:

Reformatting won't do anything. There's some conflict with Xna's audio engine and your sound device. It's like it doesn't know there is sound there, so it just crashes.

Well I found the problem... it needs audio equipment plugged in for the game to launch. Don't believe me? You can always try it for yourself.

I've been playing this game almost non-stop for the past two weeks. Has anyone else found flame slash yet? It's truly a god-tier weapon.

Haven't gotten too far into this yet (got like halfway through my first night on my first time playing). I'll try playing a bit more soon.

I got a copy a couple days ago. I love it.

What is online shops?

The DSiWare shop is hardly ideal for small developers. While it is possible, they'll need to make sure they sell enough to break even. Plus, Nintendo don't just hand out dev kits.

Terraria is such a good game, that they could probably charge premium, and still sell loads, but their company needs to grow a bit before they can take it to a Nintendo console.

Then why are there so many indie games on DSiWare and WiiWare?

All NPCs do it, one of your larger aims is to build houses for NPCs to move into

Speaking of which, SHARE YOUR HOUSES.

I am trying to make a small town with seperate buildings for each NPC.

It's from an early version, so I may start again.
So far it runs for 2 full screens. It has gatehouses at each end, a wooden outer wall, a forge, with living space, a bank with a bedroom, dining room, office and vault (I was hoping to swap all the chests for golden ones eventually), which holds chests of copper, silver and gold coins, copper, silver and gold blocks and precious stones.

In the second screenshot, you can see I also dug a robber's tunnel towards the right hand side of the vault. It doesn't lead anywhere yet, but I could have connected it to a den or something.

On the far end of the town, I build a general store with a few chests for everyday goods for my demolitionist to occupy, but it's nothing special.

I haven't gone on it since the update, so now might be a good opportunity to just start again.

Wow, so many people with this game now. Maybe we should start getting together and doing some bosses.

I've been enjoying the 1.0.6 update, the new items are pretty awesome too. I might demolish my current house and revamp it so it looks a little better, not liking it too much anymore or I might just start from scratch with a whole new world, I was thinking of buying a crap load of dynamite and blowing the world to pieces.

Also, has anyone seen the Mob Spawner Mod? I've seen a few videos of it on YouTube and it looks like total mayhem with 10+ Eyes of Cthulu, I'm not sure if Re-Logic have patched it though with the update, I am hoping they add that type of thing though just for fun, see how long you can survive. :3

A little tip; don't put torches inside your house. There are five things that an NPC needs to stay in an enclosed space; walls (both physical and background), a door that allows him/her to enter and exit the house, a chair, a table, and at least on light source (mainly torches). If you take out all of your torches and put them on top and on the sides of your house, you should get enough light to see what you're doing and also keep your guide out. However, I do suggest making more homes for other NPCs so that they don't inhabit your house as well. Remember that NPCs like to live together, so you should make a cluster of homse away from your own. Yes, I have sunk over 20+ hours in Terraria.

I hate the guide too and want to evict him from my house

Right now, I just have a series of small individual houses. I'll probably try and link them all with an underground passage. I'll post some pics later!

Why are we all hating having NPCs in our house?
I know you're all socially devoid basement dwellers IRL, but that doesn't mean you should take that attitude into the gaming world too

Going to get back into this hopefully.

We should set up a Hamachi game together, so we can do some of the bosses. Plus be all bada**.

Don't really know what to do next. Have all gold armour, beat the eye but everywhere else I go I get killed pretty fast (underworld / underground forest / looking for floating islands). I went searching for some shadow orbs but they're surrounded by rock I can't break.

You can break the ebonstone with dynamite or purifying powder. Otherwise you will require a better pick, but I don't think you can get on yet or something. Purifying powder is buy-able from the dryad.

The rock you can't break is ebonstone, and you need at least a Nightmare Pickaxe to break it. If you didn't make anything out of the demonite you got from the Eye of Cthulu, try summoning the Eater of Worlds (craft 15 rotten chunks and 30 vile powder together to make Worm Food, and consume that in the corruption) and try fighting him to get shadow scales. You don't have to beat him, just kill enough of it's segments to get enough shadow scales to craft a nightmare pickaxe. Idk how much demonite and shadow scales you need, but you can look it up.

I'm pretty okay.
