Tried it just now on my tablet and it didn't go too well. And not a couple of seconds behind or a slightly choppy framerate with screen artifacts. But like two frames total. Admittedly the only Android devices I have on hand are 2.4Ghz WiFi only which isn't ideal. Even so, not a great first impression.

I think where this will really shine is on your TV. There's a fair number of reasonable decent new TVs on the market that have apps, some of them are proper Android TVs. Odds are you're probably going to go out of your way to make sure the network connection to your TV is decent for other reasons. Possibly even a fully wired connection. And it would mean you don't have to physically go out and buy a Steam Link. I have an old Android TV media box I could hook up and test..... but I also have a Steam Link so....

Off-tv play, that's what this offers most importantly to me. I too have a 'hard' Steam Link, but it doesn't get nearly as much use as I'd like due to the need to use the TV.

If I ever get this working properly on my phone then those jacked up indie prices on Switch can kma for good. Same for any other third party games.

This will put a serious dent in my Switch interest if it ever gets working.

I'm not into the tabletop mode for Switch personally so I don't think I'd be that interested in this as it is. Now if it worked fantastically and there was a cheap clip on controller? Then I'm interested. As it is I think it's best as a soft steam link for tvs with Android TV. At least imo

I don't think current internet infrastructure is up to the demand of something like this yet. Every similar system I have read about has noticeable input lag.

I tried it again tonight and it worked first time with my DS4 controller, played some Owlboy and Blazblue. Worked really well and is now seemingly a legit gaming option for me, which is great. Time to make some inroads with my Steam backlog...

@Heavyarms55
It has nothing to do with internet infrastructure, this is pretty much entirely a local area network product. Think of it as more of a more flexible version of what the Wii U was doing rather than a game streaming service. It's performance is dependant on how reliable the connection between your devices, it's not really designed to be going outside of your local network. Just like how the Wii U GamePad didn't suddenly stop working when your internet went down.....

@skywake I was misinformed. I had heard it was designed to let you play your steam games anywhere, over the internet.
