If you honestly believe that Nintendo had no plans whatsoever to release Xenoblade stateside before people complained, i've got some tiger-attack-preventing rocks for sale. i figure you'll be interested considering your apparent propensity for buying blatant BS ;)

I think the pirates will get around this. They'll figure out a way to trick the Vita into thinking the PC has a connection and the hackers will still figure out a way to upload their own homebrew to play their free games and do whatever other stuff they do. Why am I so confident? Because Sony is horrible when it comes to security. Every PSP model has been hacked and hackers brought PSN to its knees for over a month. All this does is complicate things and slow them down a little... And monitor us honest gamers. Guilty until proven innocent, that's our society now.

@Scissors I stand behind @tbd's tiger-attack preventive rocks too. I bought some Frosted Flakes cereal last week and Tony the Tiger ran his butt right off the box as soon as I walked into the house with the cereal box in my hand! ;)

I'm not hiding anything. I don't own a Vita. My problem is the slow but steady elimination on fundamental freedoms and liberties under the guise of "safety and security". You can see it in every part of everyday life and the programming is evident when the first thing you think of when someone questions Sony ethics when it comes to privacy is, too paraphrase, "you must be guilty of something to not like to give up your privacy".

Right, and the 15 year old girl at the airport, who doesn't want to get groped by some douch who was too dumb to get a decent job, is a terrorist. (eye rolls)

Again, if you're concerned about privacy that much, you shouldn't be on the internet at all. Do you think your service provider doesn't have a record of everywhere you've gone or everything you've done online?

Privacy isn't absolute in the modern era, and never has been. We sacrifice certain levels of privacy every single day in exchange for convenience. It's simply reality. If you want true, absolute privacy, your only real solution is to buy a cabin in the woods somewhere and live off the land.

Or just be Ron Swanson. :D

Okay, so let me get this straight. People are complaining because Sony has the ability to check on what you're doing? And that Sony's primary concern is to prevent piracy, because they don't want to loose money? How dare they try and stop illegal activity that is a felony! And how dare they force a user to update to a much better firmware! They should be arrested and brought to justice!

Seriously, who cares? They are only checking for the pirated content, and unless you are one of the people that doesn't pay for games, then, you have nothing to worry about. If the United States Government is allowed to listen to our phone calls to check for our safety, then Sony should be allowed to check what kind of content their users are putting on to their system.
You should only be worried if you have pirated content, if you don't, then forget about it. It's not like Sony will judge you for having very provocative photos/videos (well, as long as their legal) on your system.

I fail to see the connection here. If she refuses, then she can't get on the plane. Simple as that. The thing is you don't HAVE to do these things. If you don't like the rules, then don't bother with them. If you don't like Sony's products, then don't buy them. If you don't wanna get groped by airport security, don't ride a plane. Ethics or not you still have to abide by others' rules whether you like it or not. This has been in place long before any privacy laws (real or imaginary) has been in place.

You have this idea that everyone has these "freedoms" that in reality do not exist and never existed.

Who cares about right or wrong? The purpose of all companies is to grub as much money as possible and petty things like privacy and security won't get in their way.
It's not a matter of ethics or the law. Sony just wants to take over the world. Kevin Butler will be our new dictator.

LOL, yeah and Sony looks more like they're in the twilight stages of the Roman Empire right now. Spread too thin, out of touch with the people and being overtaken by competing factions and bandits.

Gasp! A company is actually trying to make money?!? Call the media! This guy has made a discovery! And... a company that makes electronics will apparently rule the world... yeah...NO.

Quit trying to make Sony look like a bad guy for trying to not loose money. In case you didn't know, PIRACY IS ILLEGAL. I'm pretty sure Nintendo and Microsoft might do something similar in the future, especially Nintendo, since they are the ones that are affected the most by piracy.

Because that is exactly what you're doing. You don't have to buy Sony products or ride on an airplane, because nobody can make you do so. All you're doing is making yourself look bad. Why did you even make this topic? ;)

aaaaaaaaaaaaand we're done. take the whining to your personal blog; i'm afraid piracy and outrageous comparisons don't fly here (the former per the Rules, the latter per common sense).
