The creativity comes with how the Wii U controller will be utilized. I'm sure Nintendo will pave the way in creativity when they start showing off how the controller will be used in core games. And let's be honest, there's only so far a company can go in designing a new controller in terms of price and technology.

Edit: Yeah, what Komic said.

Not really annoyed with the resistive screen. As long as it works, I'm good. Resistive has it's pros and cons as much as capacitive.

Least the 3DS's screen isn't like the resistive touch screen phones. Those are the worst.

Those who pass off the opinions of others as blind fanboy-ism can only be true fanboys themselves. Blind to the fact that some people have opinions that differ from their own with just as much merit. Just because you can claim to be a technology design expert does not, in fact, strengthen your opinion; nor does it prove other opinions wrong. As far as I, or anyone else can prove, you know as much as any standard opinion-giver. I can therefore come to the evidenced conclusion that you are the only "fanboy" who wishes to share his opinion. Your opinion is not discounted or wrong by any means, but your proclaimed superiority reveals your true outlook.

Beautiful theory. Flawed, since it assumes that opinions are all equal in legitimacy, but nice try.

I can back my opinions up with proof. Which is more than anyone who has claimed the Move is a copy of the WiiMote can.

Whether or not you view an opinion as legitimate, all opinions are equal. Just because you believe one opinion is poorly stated or lacks sufficient evidence, does not mean it is not legitimate. You see, opinions are not fact, they are relative to the person whom creates or shares them. If you can provide proof for your opinion, that is truly fantastic. It does not make your opinion more "legitimate" or valid than any other. Besides, such proof has not been given.

This is getting a little off topic, but I'll throw in my two cents. I agree with everything you said except that all opinions are equal. I don't follow the politically correct mumbo jumbo of today. A child's opinion is not equal to an adult's. An emotionally charged opinion is often irrational. And some opinions are just stupid. Like once I heard a guy say that Skyward Sword looked like an N64 game. That person's opinion is so far from the truth it doesn't make sense. And if a person's opinion comes with Ad Hominem attacks and condescending remarks (wink wink) I don't think it's worth arguing with.

Yes, but are they not all opinions? Some opinions come accompanied with evidence or support, which makes them a well-supported opinion. But, if I want to think Nintendo sucks, and that Miyamoto is the biggest hack the gaming world has produced without providing any support, it still stands as my opinion. Just because someone differs in opinion does not make my opinion any less valid. Legitimacy of opinion is opinion in itself, which makes it a lost argument as all opinions are relative.

Anyway, Sony patent. Woo.

I also didn't like the Z button on the GCN. I guess it's not very different from the bumper placement on the 360 controller, which is the most comfortable controller IMO, but it felt small and hard to reach comfortably. But again, the Dpad on the 360 also sucks. The original xbox controller isn't too bad, if it wasn't the size of a smart car.

The main reason I went with a PS3 over a 360 is the controller being so close to a PS2 controller which I loved. I don't care that it isn't new and exciting. A touch screen controller does nothing for me what so ever.

@Shadx

Yeah, the GCN's Z button wasn't really good in terms of it's placement, form and build. I seriously thought mine was going to break that I kept myself from using it outside of Mario Kart Double Dash (which is really the only game that relied on it and forced you to use it).

I lol'd.

Regardless of where Sony stole the idea, it's exciting to imagine the PS4 may be the console to finally retire the Dualshock controller. Now we wait and see what happens.

If the GCN controller had a better C stick it would dominate any controller ever.

From what it looks like of the 3 past pages of babble and arguing (GL's psychic powers are creepy) it seems like there's no proof of Sony copying Nintendo, nor is there any proof that they didn't.

They almost had to retire the Dualshock after losing the copyrighting case against the designers of the 'rumble' motors in the original Dualshock... meaning they had to pay a huge amount of fines and money for each controller they sold. As for Sony originality, did anyone else lol when Sony announced the SIXAXIS PS3 controller a few months after Nintendo revealed the Revolution? They had originally unvealed a non-motion control non-rumble controller just prior to that the Revolutions announcement.

But surely this is all relative? Apple copyrighted capacative touchscreen technology years after Samsung (who make a majority of the iPhone screens) but STILL managed to successfully take Samsung to court for using such technology. The big money is on how you USE & SELL the technology... not just who gets there first.

Edison didn't invent the lightbulb first, Newton didn't discover gravity first and Alexander Fleming did not discover penecillin first... they were all the first to put in their claim & find a way to make the discovery profitable/popular.

There can be no definitive "evidence" one way or the other because of the diverse nature of the internet. Anyone can spend five minutes on Google & find evidence for any belief they hold right or wrong. Anyone who derides another for having no proof for their beliefs is simply someone who is too arrogant to understand the flimsiness of their "evidence". Common sense and understanding are far better ways of running a debate/discussion... but how many trolls have you met with those qualities?

Thank you. You guys act as if you know Sony copied Nintendo.

I actually have never used a Classic Controller Pro, or any CC for that matter. Mostly because I didn't feel like shelling out even more money just so I could play Super Mario World without backwards a** controls.

I really like the DualShock, and I hope Sony doesn't abandon it. Needless to say, I am very excited for the Wii U. I don't want Sony to do the same thing as Nintendo though. Nintendo should do its own thing and Sony should its own thing.

At least they got their foot in the door incase this idea actually takes off. I really hope it doesn't, though. I mean seriously, who thought it was a good idea to put buttons and triggers on a tablet and call it a controller?

This. It might be a better idea if Sony just let the Sony Tablet T and P functional with the PS3.

Typical, I make one non-biased comment and it starts an argument completely unrelated to the subject.

Anyway, looking at those designs, it seems to be more of a proof of concept/ test bed than anything else. If anything the PS4 will probably use another generation of DuelShock controller.

Regardless of what the Nintendo fanboys would like to think, Nintendo wasn't being creative with Wii U.

Whoooosh! The whole point of the Wii U flew way over your head. Nintendo isn't making a standalone tablet. They are making a handheld / game controller hybrid that integrates seamlessly with the home console.

lol. No. Nintendo saw how awesome popular the iPad is, and decided to stick buttons on it.

Nintendo marketing then went about it's business, and we end up with quotes like the one above.
