Sony and Panasonic will release a successor Blu-ray format by the end of 2015.
The new disc format will be able to store “at least” 300GB, which is six times larger than the 50GB Blu-ray discs compatible with the PlayStation 3 and 4.
"Optical discs have excellent properties to protect them against the environment, such as dust-resistance and water-resistance, and can also withstand changes in temperature and humidity when stored," said Sony in a press release.
"They also allow inter-generational compatibility between different formats, ensuring that data can continue to be read even as formats evolve. This makes them a robust medium for long-term storage of content.
They should have used that for the PS4. Then the leap between the Wii U and the PS4 would have been as big as that between the Wii and the PS3 and we wouldn't have to talk about "next-gen" because it would be clearly defined. Right now the difference is so poor that Nintendo fans such as I can actually show how much the "next-gen" statement is BS.
You do know launch titles are not going to show a massive difference? but i can guarantee you'll see a bigger difference as time goes by just like the PS3. But saying that games like Infamous: Second Son, The Division, Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain etc even tho thay are launch titles you can see a difference between PS3 to PS4. Plus there is a massive difference between early PS3 Vs early PS4 graphics, with what ever game you pick, but it's true there is no difference he he he.
It is for businesses/industrial purposes, not commercial use.
Businesses are their initial target. Once there's enough demand, they'll likely release it for commercial use as well. If/once 4k becomes a thing, they'll be very useful.
