Topic: Sonic or Mario?

Who do you think would win in a fight? Sonic or Mario? Say Sonic and really mean it, and you're on my good side.

Sorry, I've already determined this on Brawl. Mario wins. Even with his useless down-B.

I kick ass with sonic... Mario.. not so much

Sonic has the speed and Mario the muscle and agility it would be a fair fight and probably quite even.

Brawl is limited to a certain number of attacks, though, so you can't really say that's fair competition when Nintendo gets to choose which attacks each character uses. Anyhow, Sonic would win, hands-down. All he needs to do is lay a trail of coins and lead him off a cliff. Done. Oh wait... Mario could do the same thing... XD

maybe i should have said, "who do you think is better," because I didn't really mean a fight.

Sonic makes me obnoxious and the only game that stands out in a big pile of turd is sonic2. He's nothing short of a fast moving mario-clone with speedmarks in his undies.

I much prefer Mario games, but the classic Genesis / Game Gear games for Sonic were good. I find they age much worse than Mario games though. As far as pure character analysis goes, well, they're both pretty boring, actually, when deprived of their games. Mario doesn't have a lot of character (which is probably for the best), and Sonic had this tough, cool attitude added later on, and it just makes him laughable.

In Brawl Mario can hold his own. Sonic is really fast but has little end product. He's exciting but he doesn't have that killer punch to knock you off the screen. This I think sums up the Sonic series. I'm wrong of course, but there we are.

Oh, Mario a hundred times over. Sonic has spoiled any good will he still had with me after the glut of poor Sonic games over the past decade.

If my garden was flooded because a pipe had burst i would call Mario

Mario. Definitely. His games have aged a lot better than Sonic's (though I still enjoy the Genesis Sonics a lot), and he hasn't entered a downward spiral of suckage like Sonic has. And his buddies are a lot less annoying.

In terms of a Brawl fight, Mario would also win. Sure, Sonic could overwhelm him with his speed, but he's also lighter, and can't KO his way out of a paper bag.

you're forgetting sonic has, like, the best final smash, and he's actually good in terms of strength.

The cheapest final smash. Thats the reason why he was banned in smash tournement.

Sonic is sort of a Mario clone. Sega created sonic to compete with mario. remember?
