Topic: Sonic & Sega All-Stars Racing

Who else is getting it? I'm picking it up when it comes out. It'll be my umpteenth racing game, but who cares. I'm getting the Wii and DS versions, especially the DS version, since it'll be the first Sonic racing game for handheld I've had since Sonic Drift 2 for the Game Gear. Can't wait. I won't be getting the 360 version because Banjo and Kazooie aren't Sega characters.

It looks like a complete rip off of Mario Kart Wii, and that sucked. Why in the world does Sonic the Hedgehog, "the fastest thing alive", need a freakin' car? Tails and Knuckles go pretty fast, too.

@StarFox: Unless you have Gold on your Xbox Live Membership, I would say the same thing.

I might buy this, but it all depends on the reviews.

You probably didn't buy Brawl because Sonic and Snake aren't Nintendo characters lol... that's the whole point!, and not only is Banjo-Kazooie there, some other RARE characters also made it to the final game.

I'll get the Xbox 360 version as soon as I can, with a maybe for the DS and Wii versions (depends on price mainly).

The Wii version is going to be $39.99 and 360 and PS3 is going to be $49.99 according to Amazon. Wii version also has WiFi logo on it. I wont be getting it but I just thought I would add something.

I meant price at local retailers.... 360 version will more than likely be $129.900 since that's what most new games have been ($65), while the PS3 version, if it makes it here, will be $189.900 ($95)... what I don't know is the DS and Wii version, since prices for them aren't as fixed as for the other two consoles...

Wow I did not know games were so high across the globe. I think I would hate to learn currency translations because I would get a headache.

I was thinking that each version should have exclusive characters like how the Xbox 360 has Banjo & Kazooie. I pitched something like this to my friend: PS3 could have Jak and Daxter - with their car from Jak X (PS2), and us Nintendo buffs would bring in the Mario Bros. (from MK Wii of course.)

I couldn't care less about the inclusion of Banjo & Kazooie - it's the inclusion of Ryo Hazuki that has me excited!

I still don't really get the 'why does Sonic need a car/hovering skateboard/etc' complaint. OK, logically it doesn't make sense to put the fastest thing alive in any device made for the purpose of moving quickly, this I accept. But these games are immediately compared to Mario Kart. A series which takes a hero designed and famed for jumping really high and sticks him in a go-kart, which is about as close to cementing him to the floor as you can get before it stops being fun. So the logic of it seems like something of a none-issue.
Besides, we had a racing game with Sonic when he ran on foot and it really sucked. Sonic's proven to be good at running fast specifically in a straight line, hence the need for his 3D outings to have strategically placed boost pads on corners shaper than 10 degrees and really sharp drifting/sidestepping controls so the blue blur doesn't become a blue blot up the side of someone's wall. But that still happens anyway because he really sucks at turning at speed. Vehicles offer the guy the ability to corner without such tools, and since it's Sonic, his vehicle here is still probably gonna have the one of the highest Speed ratings of the roster.

It isn't exclusive to Nintendo.
And if you mean exclusive characters, it isn't gonna happen. They would have been announced by now.

the Wii version of Sonic & SEGA All-Stars Racing has been confirmed to have Miis as playable characters! yay!

that only leaves the DS and PS3 versions without extra characters... I hope they do not add PSHome characters as playable, they are creepy enough being kept inside Home, let alone put them on a colorful kart racing game...

Also, this pretty much confirms that the broad interpretation of the announcement video is true... extra characters are indeed exclusive to the Xbox 360 version in the form of Banjo Kazooie (there might be more coming either as DLC or unannounced unlockables).... Avatars and Miis, they were obvious additions to this, after Mario Kart Wii, it was just a matter of time for both to be announced.

I dunno wether to get it on Wii or PS3... If there's a chance that the MKWii players on here are getting it and would race online regularly I'll go for Wii. Guess I'll wait and see.
