Topic: Sonic 24th Anniversary

Today, June 23, the Sonic series officially turns 24 today. I find it hard to believe it actually been 24 years, after all I started gaming because of the blue blur.

So that makes next year pretty important for the character. Do you think Sega will plan anything special? Maybe not releasing a game would be a good way to celebrate rather than releasing a bad game. lol jk

It's been one long, bumpy ride...but there was definitely some good amongst the bad...maybe not as much as the bad, but still.

I'm not expecting something as grand as Generations next year, but I'm expecting at least a good game by Sonic Team. I actually really liked Lost World (Wii U).

Remember, the Sonic Boom games weren't developed by Sonic Team. I think Sonic Team has been doing pretty good recently, but I'm sure the Lost World haters disagree.

That said, I bought a Classic Sonic shirt yesterday, and it had completely passed my mind that today was the 24th anniversary. What a perfect time to wear it!

P.S.: There's currently a Sonic sale going on on PSN if anyone is interested. Seems to include some other superb Sega games as well, like NiGHTS, Jet Set Radio, and Crazy Taxi among others.

Sega celebrated the 15th anniversary by giving us two of the most beloved Sonic the Hedgehog games ever, Sonic '06 and Sonic Genesis.

We'd better get ready for Sonic '16.

This makes me want to play Sonic 06 again.

Pffffttt...Please! Everyone know that Sonic Boom is the single greatest Sonic game of all time!

There are a ton of Sonic games on sale this week on the Playstation Store, in commemoration of Sonic's birthday I'm guessing.....

This calls for a trip to the retro game store to pick up Sonic 2 on Genesis.

Does that include the EU PSN Store? Because I wouldn't be surprised if it didn't.

I wondered why I wanted to play some classic Genesis games today.

Personally if I had the opportunity, I can easily make a good Sonic game exclusive to a Nintendo system.

Everyone in theory could but the reality js different, are you gonna just copy the 2d formula and have people complain its samey or try to fix the problem of 3d Sonic having speed or create masterfully designed levels that expand the concept?

The latter but you know what, I'd rather let them do the same thing from generations like five times and then do something different.

I already have ideas that can work for a Sonic game but I don't want to spill the beans yet cause who knows, I might make one in the future if I had the chance.

I'm a bit worried if he'll be around for his 25th anniversary. Sonic Boom: Rise of Lyric and Sonic Boom: Shattered Crystal sold a combined total of 0.62 million units. And now they're making a sequel. They literally said in the reveal post on twitter, #It'sgoingtobewaybetterthanthelastone .

Coming 2016, Sonic Generations: Blast Edition

To celebrate the 25th anniversary of Sonic, next year Sonic 06 will be added to the list of Xbox 360 games playable on Xbox One

Silly yet serious but more people want Sonic 06 on the Xbox One than all of the Genesis games.

I expect an announcement later this year. I'm hoping for Generations 2, since that is such a solid anniversary title idea.

I also hope the Lost World gameplay returns, since I believe with some tweaking it could work really well. Kind of like what they did for Unleashed into Colours.
