I hear it's actually rather import-friendly, something about using Hiragana or fushigana for kids or something.
wont stop me I like a challenge

...he did say it used a written language easier to understand you know? After he said it was import-friendly? Your post makes no sense in reply to his.

probably the latter — furigana are those little kana you'll sometimes see put over kanji to help kids put a phonetic reading to the symbol. you'd still need the vocabulary/contextual knowledge to back up your ability to decode hiragana, though, if you plan on importing, O... good luck with that :3

So to hype myself up for this game, I decided to pick up the DS version. I'm about 5 hours in (though I've technically been playing it for over 15 hours since I had some saving issues. Long story) and I'm enjoying it quite a bit. Not as much as I'd like to, but certainly well enough to get by. First off, I don't understand Japanese, so I'm mostly lost on the story, but I'm probably not missing much since it's a kid's game. Without the story, the gameplay is the worst aspect so far. It's actually rather complex, but it starts off so easy that I can't really take advantage of it. It would also be so much better if enemies gave you visual cues, especially bosses, so you could make full advantage of being able to change your party formations without trial and error.
Other than that, the game's been pretty good. Not great, but good. I'm hoping it'll get better, though, and I highly expect the PS3 version to outdo it in every way, judging from what I've seen.
I was hoping this game would be localised, I desperately need a somewhat decent JRPG to add to my ever growing library of PS3 games, since the rest of JRPGs I've seen so far have been hideously stagnet or had recieved scathing reception.
BTW, is the PS3 region locked? I just want to be sure in case I have to import the game if it doesn't make it to Europe/Australia.

Nier Ar Tonelico Qoga: Knell or Ar Ciel Enchanted Arms Resonance of Fate White Knight Chronicles 2 (comes with WKC 1 on the disc) Demon's Souls Dark Souls Trinity: Souls of Zill O'll Star Ocean: The last Hope Atelier Rorona: The alchemist of Arland
If you have all of those, and are still not satisfied with the PS3's JRPG collection, you're impossible to please.
But to answer your question, the PS3 is not region locked at all. Import away.
