As a PC gamer, that was my response too.

No.
X1 and PS4 are practically the same machine. Despite what some people will tell you, the systems are exactly the same thing. There would be no variety. It would be like going to the ice cream shop and only being able to choose between vanilla and french vanilla. At least with the Nintendo system you can have a taste of strawberry every now and again.

Also, look at what happened to Sega. The quality just isn't what it once was. That is probably was terrifies me the most about idea of Nintendo going third party.... a drop in quality.

Probably not. I could see them completely focusing on handhelds in the distant future, however, as that has always been their forte and they've had a firm grasp on that particular market.

I think everyone should go third party. Why do we have to have a specific console to play a specific type of game anymore? There should just be one, universal video game player, and define games by what kind of disk they're printed on, like movies. I don't have to buy a panasonic Blu-Ray player to play panasonic movies, so why do I have to buy a Sony PS to play Sony games? The easiest way to do this would just be for everyone to start making PC games, but we'd still probably have an OS war with exclusivity going one way or another. I think eventually that's just going to be the way it is. No more consoles, because eventually PC hardware will be powerful and cheap enough that you can get something that plays games at a decent quality for under $300. That's not right now though unfortunately, with standards being set more towards the $1,000 and up range for PCs.

Because there's a difference between PC and Console. Pc stores so much of data that the speed itself will start lagging where as for consoles, once you start the game, you can play the game smooth with little to no delays.

Secondly Marketing products in PC are much harder than marketing products on consoles. There are countless amounts of PC games that just make very hard to compete like smartphones. Sure with companies like Nintendo, It'll be easy but after seeing their ads on Wii U, I doubt it......

That sounds like a weakness of your PC rather than of weakness of PCs in general. I don't think the tech is quite there yet to have all of gaming really move over to PCs. Unfortunately, because programmers have to compensate for a wide range of hardware, the hardware an individual has to have could be as much as twice as powerful as a console to achieve the same result. We're fast approaching a point though, where any additional improvements in hardware make it incredibly difficult to tell the difference in quality. That said, if you load your games from an SSD in many cases you can get a PC game moving that loading bar much faster than a console could hope to.

And how is marketing different? Nintendo, Sony, and Microsoft would probably still have their own marketplaces and devoted fans right alongside services such as Steam and Origin, so they could still advertise their games online. They can still have television ads, theater ads, and stuff still spreads by word of mouth. The main difficulty I can foresee is having a faster way to say what the system requirements are. Rather than saying "Only available on Xbox One" for example, they could instead say "playable on systems equivalent to Xbox One and up", or "available on all systems with Xbox OS".
