Before I begin, does the Playstation 3 comes with an bundled game?
Hello there. Being so excited for the Playstation 3 Slim that was just announced, I really, really want the system so badly. The Playstation 3 Slim will have 120 GB of hardrive space, cost only $299 in North America, will arrive in the first week of September, and has lots of games I want that will never see the light of day on the Wii. It also has the following:
Free online which is superior to the Wii (Main reason for wanting it.).
Most of it's classic PS/PS2 franchise, something that Nintendo has failed to a degree in.
According to PS3 owners like Stuffgamer1 and Adam, the PSone Classic is no sloutch, unlike the Virtual Console recently.
Support much better visuals then the Xbox 360 and especially the Wii.
Can support much bigger games then the Wii.
The PS3 helps with cancer research more the supercomputers!
More online functions then the Wii.
I want to get Tiger Wood PGA Tour '10 with WiiMotionPlus, NHL 2K10, New Super Mario Bros. Wii, and Tatsunko Vs. Capcom for the Wii for Christmas, which cost $260 without tax. The upcoming Playstation 3 Slim that I mentioned will cost $300. Add $60 to an new game and it cost $360. So, with all that said, should I get an Playstation 3 Slim with a game I want for it for Christmas or should I get the four games I want for the Wii instead?
I will take as many answers as possible and read them throughly.
I would personally rather play EA's games on PS3 (if I play them at all). I love being able to take the role of one player online with other players. I never liked switching between players mid-game in old sports games. Feels so unnatural and schizophrenic to one moment be a defender off screen and then suddenly turn into a midfielder who just got the ball. The game always wants you in the action, but a huge part of team sports is positioning and coordination, not just ball / puck hogging. Personal preference. Obviously doesn't apply to Tiger Woods, but I don't play golf games.
You can get MvC2 on PS3 for only $15 which should scratch the Tatsything Vs. Capcom itch, and well, that just leaves NSMB. Hard to know what to expect from that. I'm sure you'll eventually get it though, assuming it doesn't review poorly (can't imagine that). But it looks fairly similar to Little Big Planet, so you're not without options on PS3 there either.
PSOne Classics are not slacking at all, but you have to also consider that they have almost been entirely neglected prior to this year, so while there is a lot to look forward to each week, the library of classics is nowhere near as large as the VC (PSN originals however probably outnumber WiiWare, and generally are much better).
Plus, getting a new system is exciting, and there's no better time for it than when you're getting it as a gift.
I would say go for the PS3, but as a proper Nintendo fan you owe it to yourself to eventually get NSMB anyway. Like Stuffy, I think the benefits of having a Wii and PS3 greatly outweigh the costs.
go for the ps3. you wont regret it. and good point Adam: Plus, getting a new system is exciting, and there's no better time for it than when you're getting it as a gift.
If people keep asking for advice on whether or not to get a PS3, sooner or later NL is going to suspect I'm an undercover Sony operative and give me the boot. I swear guys, I really love my Wii!
well if theyre same price, i guess ill get the old (if i ever get one which i doubt) since i like how shiny the old is, the new one is like a dull greyish black with no shine, dont know why they took off the shiny look
Edit i feel as if ill never get this thing since my parents will say im being greedy, which is true, but also i like talking about stuff anyway
Edit2 im being stupid, it looks very nice, the color isnt so dull, sure its not as shiny, but its still very slick, not sure which is better to get still, may get this one to 1-UP and SHUT UP my neighbour and his ps3, buts thats just brash isnt it
I already wrote down my list of games I want for Christmas. I'm not sure what game to get for Christmas. I'll give you a list of games that I'm deciding between if my grandparents approve of me getting an Playstation 3 Slim.
