So SEGA apparently stated that they want to be like how they used to be.
I would be fine with this except with just one problem.......why are we getting crappy games on the Nintendo systems especially the one called Sonic Boom: Fire and Ice?
Yea, I read about this - I really hope they do kind of "get their brand back," you know? Some people are already saying there's no way Sega can come back, they're too far gone, etc. I'm not in that camp. I say just wait and see what happens. Give them a chance.
Until I see VF 6 and a new Shinobi game Sega is dead to me.

Problem is they've had so many chances since the Dreamcast to "get their brand back". One of the reasons they've become such a joke is the lack of quality in some of their games. The sheer fact that Sonic Boom was a disaster is a testament for their incompetence as a publisher.

Sonic Boom games are not Sonic games. They're Sonic Boom games; IE licensed shovelware. I don't hold them to the same standards for the same reason I wouldn't compare Pac-Man and the Ghostly Adventures to Pac-Man World.
They just need to bring back the Chao already. It wouldn't matter how awful the game attached to it is, it'd be worth it.

It wasn't licensed. Sega published the game. They knew how bad it was and still published it anyway. They have no excuse for a game they were pushing left and right.

Be a second party developer and make games exclusively for Nintendo. You and Nintendo are in good terms (not sure if they will forgive you on the boom games though.) And Nintendo can easily make you what you were back then. Sonic in Smash looks amazing as hell the first time I saw him!
EDIT: Honestly, I don't see how Shenmue 3 could save SEGA because the first two games sold poorly. They could have made the game for the PS2 but seeing as Sony and SEGA weren't in good relationships, they opted for the dreamcast and Xbox instead.
That being said, there are a ton of IP's that can benefit SEGA even now like Phantasy Star, Shinobi (a proper sequel not like the 3DS one) and many more.

Sadly, for all intents and purposes it might as well be a licensed game. Same lazy tactic of coasting on brand recognition to sell poorly made garbage...
It seems to me that the post was made to give Sega a pass from that mess, when they are quite responsible for it.

I think Sega should make a new gaming platform. Not necessarily a console to rival other systems, for they can continue to make games for other companies' consoles. I was thinking this platform could be fully digital, and the console's main feature could be its marketplace. From here, players can either rent games for a daily fee (that way, they may return it at any time), or simply buy games, and they could release first-party games and invite mobile developers to develop for their console. It should be priced at $99.99, making it extremely affordable and concretely conveying "we are not looking to compete". If it's successful, Sega can raise the price to comply to demand and possibly fully switch over to it. It's almost like a gradual and clever recovery. What do you think?
