As there's a Guitar Hero Live thread, I figured I'd create a thread regarding the music game rival Rock Band 4.

The main game reveal is via an IGN livestream at 8pm UK time (3pm ET, 12pm PT) today (15th May) where 5 songs of the setlist will be announced and gameplay shown off.

If there was ever a band game I was interested in, it would be...Rocksmith 2014. But Rockband 4's looking to be a decent second choice.

Rocksmith isn't really a band game, more a guitar teaching tool.

Close enough as far as I'm concerned. I mean, in Rock Band 4's case, that was the closest thing to praise I can give a glorified DDR game - gaming itself boiled down to its barest essence. Take that for what you will.

"Close enough"? They're two totally different games with totally different gameplay and totally different audiences. Isn't this what just happened in that SSB4 vs MKX topic? I couldn't just pull Rocksmith out at a party and have everyone join in the fun. I can - and have, plenty of times - done so with Rock Band.
Just like you can bust out Smash and everyone will have a blast, but if you pull out Mortal Kombat, the only people who are going to have fun are the ones who know how to play it already.

If you dislike DDR-style "casual" rhythm games, that's fine by me. But there's no reason to go complaining in the topic for one.

I didn't want to. In fact, I only tried to bump the thread because I didn't want to see it die while Guitar Hero: Uncanny Valley edition gets page after page of posts. I do think it deserves better than that. But I'm not gonna lie, I hate these kind of games, and I'm not going to praise a game I hate. I'm sorry, but at least I accomplished what I came for. I hope the rest of the posts are more productive.

@CanisWolfred It's obvious that Guitar Hero is only getting many more posts because there's a Wii U version. Sadly there's a common view on this site where if something is not on Nintendo platforms it must be terrible. While you don't like these kind of games it's because you actually don't like the gameplay which is a way better opinion than "this sucks because it's not on Wii U" logic.
