I believe Aonuma stated that he would be interested in working on a 3D remake of A Link to the Past. The first game would be cool, but there's so much that they would have to flesh out. If they're going to put all that effort into making content, they might as well put it into an original game.
If I had to choose one remake to be made, I'd want the entire Mother trilogy remade in full 3D, all on one Wii disc.
Why would you want Earthbound and Mother 3 (Mother 1 I can understand...) in 3D? They have the best sprites ever, it's part of what makes them awesome. If they were to make a 3D game, I'd rather it be a new one and done in Wind Waker's art style.

@Popyman: I was thinking about that, and I think as long as they can translate the sprites to 3D and keep the style from the 2D games, it wouldn't be that big of a deal. Oh, and reading your post gave me an idea. Next to the characters' status, it could display a sprite of their faces from the old games. That would be a nice touch. Anyway, I guess I'm trying to say that going from 2D to 3D doesn't mean they have to change the art style.
Honestly, I would love to see HAL give Earthbound to the guys and gals at GameFreak to have a go. As I was playing through Pokemon Soul Silver, I couldn't help but think this is a perfect engine for Earthbound! Yes, I play Pokemon! I actually have played a few new gen games. A couple on the GBA and Pokemon Pearl on the DS. But anyways, if you look at the world of Pokemon, all the buildings, the area and environment all look a lot like Onette and Twoson!
If I could see any game be remade, I would like to see Dragon Force from the Sega Saturn, awesome game! See Here

More Dragon Quest on DS, I wonder how plausible the seventh would be on the DS...
I'm not really a huge remake person though, for the most part the original graphics are good enough, and all they really need to do is update the older games with some newer conveniences (like better menus, and music players, and bestiaries).
Metroid 2. That game seriously needed a map. And if they re-did Earthbound to match the battle system on Mother 3. It might break the game, but it would be awesome.
