found an old ps1 in my loft, now i was an n64 kid back in the day and i missed out alot on the playstation. other than crash bandicoot and spyro at friends houses i was never a big follower of the gray station. but im old now and on a journey back through time so could anyone recomend some goodies for me?
I never owned this though I wish I had Silent Bomber was a pretty unique arcade'y kinda game that you basically go around blowing stuff up with bosses to battle along the way, definitely worth picking up if your lucky enough to come across it.
@CanisWolfred Going to have a look into symphony of the night for sure, looks awesome cant believe id never head of it till now. ive played metal gear and final fantasys looking for more obscure ones really.
@Reala ill check it out, thats what im looking for is either underrated lesser known games or just fun arcade-y style games like youve mentioned.
also just realised the 3DO version of road rash is also on playstation will be checking that out for sureee.

its crazy how dated ps1 games are in comparison to the n64.
No. Not in the slightest. It was directed by the same guy (or maybe just written? I can't remember), but it was an early work and played nothing like Xenoblade. I'd actually recommend against it. Calling it rough around the edges would be putting it lightly. It has an overly convoluted, kitchensink style plot, to the point where it almost feels like a parody of something like Evangelion than a homage like it was intended. Gameplaywise it has some good ideas, and a lot of bad ones. While the combat, which is strickly turn-based, albeit with a twist in which you can choose attack strings, seems cool at first, but it's slow and unbalanced, and quickly becomes repetitive. There's platforming sections where you can get into a random battle mid-jump. Pretty much the entire second disc is rushed and poorly excecuted, making it's already convoluted story even harder to comprehend.
Not to say it is entirely unenjoyable, but its flaws bring it down rather heavily. If you were gonna get it for $6 on PSN, I'd actually recommend giving it a shot, but the disc version usually goes anywhere from $40 to $100+ - it simply isn't worth it, IMO. Not when there's Xenosaga on the PS2, which is a far better game and uses a lot of similar elements.

What N64 games aren't dated?
Mischief Makers, Yoshi's Story, Paper Mario, Star Fox 64, Star Wars Episode 1 Podracer, maybe some puzzle games because...puzzle games
Rare's games, the Zelda games and Kirby 64 are arguable
You got me with Mischief Makers, but that's literally the only one. Maybe Yoshi's Story? I was under the impression it was dated when it came out, but I never played it, so I can't say either way.
Paper Mario is very much dated compared to its successors, with much simpler gameplay.
Star Fox 64 has horribly dated graphics.
As does Star Wars Podracer, and IIRC, it's controls were difficult to grapple with.
You'd have to be specific, but even some of the Puzzle games haven't held up as well, like one of the Tetris games.
None of Rare's games have aged well at all, in terms of graphics, gameplay, and controls.
The Zelda games both have extremely dated graphics, OoT in particular having sub-par graphics for its time.

Yoshi's Story was pretty dated when it was released. Watch an episode of Sesame Street instead of playing Yoshi's Story. It will be more difficult and last longer.
