I was referring to compatibility with the controller as "set up" issues.
I know, that's why I was saying it's so much easier to just use an Xbox 360 controller. You just plug it in your PC and all the drivers install automatically.
The Asus Transformer Prime has just been released. It's a quad-core Android-based tablet that is able to immediately be upgraded to the Ice Cream Sandwich version of Android. Apparently it not only plays games pretty well, but it also has an HDMI out and is compatible with the following controllers: WiiMote, wireless PS3, and wired Xbox 360.
Seems pretty nifty.
Now if only they could get the GPS and WiFi range issues sorted out.

How is it compatible with the Wii Remote and PS3 controller? They both use Bluetooth, and the PS3 controller just uses USB for charging.

Ok so it has Bluetooth. The controllers are still locked to their specific consoles. I can't connect a PS3 controller to a Wii, and vice versa. The PS3 won't even recognize a wired Xbox 360 controller. So how did Asus manage to do all that with their tablet?

They aren't locked to a device; just run on different frequencies. I can connect a Wii or PS3 controller to my PC because the mobo came with built in Bluetooth (in fact, I was playing around with the Wii remote a bit a couple of times). 360 controllers do not use Bluetooth and so a separate device would be required to connect those. That's why it says wired Xbox controllers which can use USB.

The PS3 supports wired controllers. I had a 3rd-party wired controller for my PS3 and it worked just fine. So why can't the Xbox 360 wired controller work on a PS3?
Is there a way to get a Wii Remote to connect with a PS3 (and vice versa)? Like change the frequency or something?
What's the point? The controllers wouldn't work with one another.

You can't hook up a wired 360 controller to a PS3 because the PS3 requires the required drivers. It doesn't make sense to include drivers for a different controller on the PS3. The drivers have been included on PC since Vista and install when you plug a controller in. As for Wii remote on a PS3, you would require less restrictive access to the system. It may have been possible if they didn't change their minds about allowing you to install linux on the PS3. But that doesn't mean you could use it to play games. The key thing though, is drivers.

Then how are companies able to make 3rd-party unlicensed controllers? If they really are unlicensed, then how do they obtain the required drivers to make them work?

You can get a PS3 controller working on a PC. Google it. If you can get it working on a PC then I don't see why you couldn't figure it out for a tablet.

If it can work on a PC then I can make it work on a different console. I should be able to get an Xbox 360 controller working on a PS3 right?

You can't, because XBox 360 controllers require drivers that are only for 360s and Windows PCs. Since the PS3 isn't a 360, nor runs Windows, you can't install the drivers required for the controller. Many non-360 controllers work because they are plug-and-play, meaning they don't require any special drivers to be installed on a device that's programmed to handle these plug-and-play devices. PS3 controllers and Wii controllers are also plug-and-play, mostly because they are Bluetooth and can't refrain from not being plug-and-play.
I'm pretty okay.
