I've said before that my PS3 recentley got the YLOD. I just sent it to Sony a couple days ago, but now I'm worried. I have a lot of games and saves in my hardrive and I'm afraid that when I get my PS3 comes back, I'll lose it all. I've heard somewhere that Sony sends you a refurbished PS3 instead of the one you send. Anyone know if this is true? I really don't want to lose all my file.

in order to return the console as fast as possible, they usually send a refurbished unit...
At least with Microsoft, they transfer all the licenses between your old and new Xbox, so that all the saves and content works without any problems... I guess Sony does the same (you should've took the HDD out of the PS3 and/or backed up your info just in case)

You were supposed to back up your hard drive and format it before sending it to them. You will lose all your data if you didn't back it up prior to sending it to Sony. You can re-download your game content though. Your photos, videos and game saves are gone. Sony does not transfer licenses between consoles. I know this from personal experience with my PS3. I lost all my video content that was tied to my original system when Sony chose to send a refurbished system to me. I had everything backed up but my videos bought from the PS store and PS1/PS2 game saves didn't restore to my new system.

Oh well, it's alright now. Right now I'm worried if I'll be able to get my PS3 back before Christmas. I've beaten all the games I've had saved except for Assassins Creed, so it shouldn't be a huge loss.
