Due to the new hardware failute thread and the lack of a mention about this issue, I feel like I should warn anyone who does not know.

The original Xbox used a very cheap clock capacitor for the time keeping. It never worked well and would die after a few hours of being unplugged. These capacitors fail and leak, destroying your motherboard. You need to remove them ASAP. The console is fine without it.
