horsepower is one major tool for creative power. is not everything but plays a big role. more complex AI, better animations, more detailed physics, better UI, amount of characters and buildings on your screen, dynamicdestructible environments, or dynamically generated content etc etc. It's not just about graphics but it is graphics and interaction with the game world that get a huge benefit out of it.

When was the last time a Nintendo console had a new, numbered entry in the Final Fantasy series - the most valuable Square Enix property? When was the last time a Tomb Raider or Deus Ex game was announced for a Nintendo console (answer: not since Square Enix acquired Eidos).

Dragon Quest is the only real support (not including those little offshoot games, which while awesome like Chocobo Dungeon, are hardly console shifting releases) that Nintendo has seen from S-E. Which is a big thing to be sure, but that's a pure numbers game from S-E's perspective, there's no loyalty there.

Dairy Queen, in terms of numbers does considerably better in sales than Fan Fiction. In fact so much, that there's an official Japanese law about releasing new ice cream on a weekday.

This thread is fun to read :P

Maybe nintendo will realize that they overpriced their console and gift us 100 virtual dollars for the eShop?

A lot of this argument will have to wait until tommorow as we still don't know what nintendo will pull out of its hat fot the 3DS. If they can show good Thrid party support, I belive that the 2 portables will be evenly matched. Until then, its hard to argue for or aginst either one, allowing for tommorow.

Actually if the system is being sold at a "premium" as Nintendo says, then they're not losing any money at all. You generally sell something at a premium when it is sold higher than its costs.

First sentence was referring to sony. second nintendo. Don't be a douche. Thank you.

@TheSolarKnight: In Japan, Dragon Quest is a big deal, yeah. Elsewhere, not quite so much. Now, for a company as very Japanese as Square-Enix, you'd think that means something. But realistically, they haven't been decidedly pro-Nintendo since they jumped ship with FFVII. Relations are better now than they were at one time, sure, but not as good as they were before that.

My Backloggery Not in common use, but I update with relevant friend codes. Look them up there.

First of all you should make things clear in your statements. Second of all you could use a chill pill.

Vita's $249 doesn't = 3DS being overpriced.

I'll pick my 3DS over Vita because my experience with Gameboy, Advance and DS, I know I'll be getting lots of quality titles.

Vita? Hopefully but even back then, Sony did impress and the PSP looked promising. Only to find out that the PSP wasn't what it could have been. Let's hope Vita does well for the sake of fans and the people who want it (I do but I'm still holding out).

Power doesn't sell a system. Software and actually keeping things consistent do.

it often happens with this type of threads :) i knew of the price before it was announced,
i am very happy for this price too. just a bit worried and concerned for what nintendo is actually going to offer with this 3DS update and the new home console because these guys covered a lot of bases technically.even things that were rumoured for "cafe". vita does for the PS3 pretty much all of what is rumoured about the new controller. there is a lot of pressure there for ninty.

There are some good news though,
Ubi announced that the awaited sequel, Beyond Good & Evil 2 Won’t be Out On PS3 or Xbox 360 but "It is still alive and we are very far [into] development so we can't go back now," series creator Michel Ancel told GI.biz last night.. "We are targeting the next generation of consoles."

ofc as we know, the only next gen console coming out is the new console from nintendo.

Careful now-

People'll say "It'll be better on PS4 and 720" for an insignificant reason.

I had predicted Vita to start at $300 and go into $400 for the 3G.

But glad they didn't go that route. Hell, only paying $50 more for the 3G version is really unexpected but welcome (we know what other companies charges doubly extra than that).

Well I went into the announcement ready to say how much better the 3DS was in a moment of E3 hyped up fanboy-ness, and I went out of it very impressed. The Vita seemingly has the 3DS beaten in every category except software at the moment, and as time goes on we'll see how it holds up in that regard.

I honestly think this is a good thing for Nintendo though. They seem to have gotten pretty full of themselves due to their massive success with the Wii and DS, especially not having any real competition in the handheld market. Hopefully the Vita will force them to go into overdrive and come through on the promises they made about the 3DS.
