No, that's the wrong equation you got there. It's More horsepower = less restrictions, thus giving you more room to do crazy things that require a lot of juice. The creativity comes from someone's head, and the less restrictions he has the more room he has to be creative.

I made Kid Tripp! PocketGamer gave it a 9 out of 10! You should totally buy it now!

The name.

I might pronounce it as "Veeta"

It sounds better to me, even though the meaning behind Vita is 'life'.

@WaltzElf If that was the case art nowadays would be more highly regarded than that of the past. The artists of the past were more creative due to the limitations that they had in those times. More hardware power not equals to more creative potential.

For example, if I gave you all of the knowledge in the universe but you had no idea what to do with it, you would end up going around in circles. As we can see from a lot of games of this generation, a lot of developers have this exact problem. They can't think outside of making something "prettier". It is a minority that actually knows how to make use of their resources.

Another thing...Tactics is developed from an existing game, if you managed to screw that up, well there's probably no hope for you.

On the topic of games for the Vita, is it going to be like the PSP where you can walk into a store and buy a game OR is it going to be like the PSP Go where you have to download all of the games to a limited amount of space.

And about creativity, has anyone seen what people have done in Minecraft? When your able to build a 16-bit computer in a video game, I think that it dosen't matter about power. (I know that it isn't made by Sony or Nintendo)

Well...

EA likes Nintendo more than Sony

That's why the Wii has the best versions of Medal of Honor and Battlefield...

oh wait :P

Nintendo needs to do a better job of recruiting third party support. The Vita isn't going to help the cause.

I'll reword my original statement: I see more potential for games that I'd consider amazing on the 3DS than on the NGP. See what I mean now? :3

The question is though - are there more yous than mes? (probably, but that's a side issue). Nintendo will want to be really smart, because success this time around is not guaranteed. The Vita is genuinely competitive.

i just finished up with chrono trigger and i found it to be way more creative and original than the vast majority of games that have come out for the current gen consoles (wii included!)

Demon's Souls wasn't possible on the SNES (and I'm talking about gameplay, not just the visuals, and using Demon's Souls as an example because it's a hugely creative game with relatively primitive visuals). Chrono Trigger IS possible on the PS3. So my original statement holds - more power = more options. It's up to the developer and publisher to do something with that power.

Medal of Honor Heroes 2 is the best MoH game yet.

Whatchu talkin' about?

And that comment wasn't serious because I thought the "Square Enix likes Sony more than Nintendo" was a joke, but I guess it isn't..?

They're obviously losing money on it. Maybe Nintendo will make better games now.

Actually if the system is being sold at a "premium" as Nintendo says, then they're not losing any money at all. You generally sell something at a premium when it is sold higher than its costs.

Modern art is more advanced now, and more creative. People can do more with art now.

For an extreme example - Cavemen could only draw on walls. These drawings are important, but cavemen were not able to project a light show onto the sails of the Opera House: http://vividsydney.com/

That's every bit as creative as the caveman drawing, but not possible without modern technology.

I'm not saying the old games are not artistic or creative. But modern games are capable of being artistic and creative in an entirely different way, and would not have been possible in previous generations.

Sony just whipped Nintendo.

I honestly predict this to be the first time that Nintendo is beaten in a handheld generation. As much as I like the 3DS, the Vita is a better console in every way imaginable.

As far as tech and hardware goes, I agree 100%. I'd still take the 3DS's potential game selection over the Vita's though.

And yeah, Nintendo screwed us on the price. I bet Sony will be taking a loss on their system sells though.

Potential game selection? Dude, I have 100 games for the NGP, literally, and I HAVEN'T EVEN GOT THE CONSOLE YET.

Hah, you're talking about the PSP collection right? The 3DS has the entire DS collection too. :3

I didn't say the Vita is superior in content to the 3DS though. Just not inferior.

The Vita has the edge in terms of power, and therefore potential - and it has better social features. The 3DS' only differentiating point is a great 3D screen.

The reason the only differentaiting point the 3D, is becuase when you look at it, The Vita basicall copied the 3Ds. Touch screen, check. Gyroscopes, Check. AR, Check. Even the graphics, while impressive, are not that much better than the 3Ds current graphics. That said, it still seems to be shaping up to be an incredibile system.

That being said there are several months left before the Vita gets released. The original DS had about 4 months of a headstart on the PSP and we all saw what happened there. The 3DS has more of a headstart than the DS did. It'll be interesting, at least, to see the results of this.

It wasn't a joke <_<

When was the last time a Nintendo console had a new, numbered entry in the Final Fantasy series - the most valuable Square Enix property? When was the last time a Tomb Raider or Deus Ex game was announced for a Nintendo console (answer: not since Square Enix acquired Eidos).

Dragon Quest is the only real support (not including those little offshoot games, which while awesome like Chocobo Dungeon, are hardly console shifting releases) that Nintendo has seen from S-E. Which is a big thing to be sure, but that's a pure numbers game from S-E's perspective, there's no loyalty there.

From what I've seen, the Vita has close to mid-level PS3 graphics. The 3DS is still roughly better than the Gamecube. The difference is by miles.

Doesn't talk about games.

WHAAAAT!!! This cheap!!! Didn't see that coming at all!!

Now the 3DS is really, REALLY overpriced! Lowering the price is a must, though I am not sure if I still want one!

@Mistgun

Well the touch screens are quite a bit different. The Vita has a multi touch screen (3DS screen isn't multi touch). That being said, positioning of 3DS's screen gives it additional functionality because the user can actually see what they are doing.

So one system can do multiple things with its screen at once but the other one can do more different types of things albeit at different times.
