Note: How many people do you think are going to buy this after Sony got hacked?

Nintendo got hacked too. Quick, better sell that Wii!!

I'd beg to differ with you there. In game design I think creativity and execution gives you the edge, and for me Nintendo's always won that battle. Basically, I'm just saying I'd prefer spending $250 to play Super Mario 3DS than $250 to play Uncharted. :3

You realise that's a software and developer issue, not a hardware problem? And it's not like Sony, the PSP and Vita lack for good quality developers - exclusive and multiplatform.

I spent more time playing Tactics Ogre and Duodecim Final Fantasy than Mario Sunshine.

At least they responded in less than 24 hours and come forward with the fact that personal information was not compromised.

Not this argument again.

Sony complied with the law. Write to your Governor if that's not good enough for you.

Sony just whipped Nintendo.

I honestly predict this to be the first time that Nintendo is beaten in a handheld generation. As much as I like the 3DS, the Vita is a better console in every way imaginable.

As far as tech and hardware goes, I agree 100%. I'd still take the 3DS's potential game selection over the Vita's though.

And yeah, Nintendo screwed us on the price. I bet Sony will be taking a loss on their system sells though.

Potential game selection? Dude, I have 100 games for the NGP, literally, and I HAVEN'T EVEN GOT THE CONSOLE YET.

Hah, you're talking about the PSP collection right? The 3DS has the entire DS collection too. :3

I didn't say the Vita is superior in content to the 3DS though. Just not inferior.

The Vita has the edge in terms of power, and therefore potential - and it has better social features. The 3DS' only differentiating point is a great 3D screen.

Isn't that what you said about the PSP? If I'm not mistaken the DS sold more than twice as much ;)

If you care so much for your privacy, what are you hiding?

On that same note, how much personal info does Nintendo keep compared to Sony? Either way Sony got hacked, TWICE. Meaning that they were stupid enough not to patch the holes. And still, when do you think Lulzsec is going to stop?

P.S. I wouldn't sell my Wii unless the Homebrew channel came out for Project Cafe.

No point in getting a 3DS now.
PSVita cost the same, and has better games.
Nintendon't did it again.

The PSP quite clearly had an inferior games catalogue for people who just walked into a retail shop and wanted to buy a UMD. The good stuff was downloadable, or you had to track it down.

There's no indication yet that the 3DS will have worthwhile software, or the Vita won't. It's just potential at this stage for both sides. In terms of back catalogue? They're even now that the Vita links in with the ENTIRE PSN.

Yeah, Ninty's going to need to price drop for the holidays. They obviously have room too. Sony's obviously willing to take a huge loss on the Vita to make it competitive. Hardware wise, it really kills the 3DS. Retail-games wise, well, that's more of a personal preference thing. They'll both have a lot to offer.

But there's a limit on how much of a loss they can take though. Remember the PS3 put them into the red when it first came out. Obviously they don't want to repeat that experience.

i fail to see how sony has whupped nintendo.
sure, the vita will represent the new standard for graphical performance and probably social gaming on a portable platform, but I'd personally rather play nintendo's 1st party games and download retro games, so my money was already spent before the 3ds launched. there are plenty more of me where I came from. both platforms have a target demographic.

Why not? Sell the console at a loss, make it back through licensing for software. It's a proven and intelligent strategy.

It doesn't just happen with games either. Printers are cheap, but ink is expensive why? Because printers are sold at a loss, ink is sold at a profit.

Being in the red isn't always a bad thing. Accounting 101.

The kind of potential you're talking about is prettier games, and that (generally) has little bearing on how much fun a game is, imho. When I think potential I consider both companies' track records, and how well the games they've made are tailored to my tastes. :3

I made Kid Tripp! PocketGamer gave it a 9 out of 10! You should totally buy it now!

Well, don't sell it to Gamestop :3

You might as well keep it and probably set up a display of all the consoles you own.

I'm doing that :P

And because my PSP is like-new, preserving it for a long time and when the time comes when I really need moneyz, I'll sell mine.

More hardware power = more creative potential. To take an extreme example, the PS3 is capable of far more, in terms of gameplay, than the NES.

And Sony, just Sony (ignoring the other third parties for the moment), is a publisher and developer capable of making games every bit as much fun as Nintendo's properties. It published Demon's Souls. It develops Magic the Gathering Tactics. I had more fun with either of those than almost anything Nintendo's come up with to date on the Wii, and especially on the 3DS.

Looking at third parties - let's not forget that Square Enix likes Sony more than Nintendo. That's not exactly an insignificant publisher.

Oh the thought of Demon's Souls on the Vita. salivates

Yeah, I'll agree with that, to a point. Honestly though, it's obvious that our tastes in games are quite a bit different. I'll reword my original statement: I see more potential for games that I'd consider amazing on the 3DS than on the NGP. See what I mean now? :3

i dont know if i can get behind the idea that horsepower = creative potential.
i just finished up with chrono trigger and i found it to be way more creative and original than the vast majority of games that have come out for the current gen consoles (wii included!)
