I honestly predict this to be the first time that Nintendo is beaten in a handheld generation. As much as I like the 3DS, the Vita is a better console in every way imaginable.

I wouldn't count them out yet. Nintendo has yet to show its tricks

I agree with pixelman on the software front. Only must-have I see on Vita thus far is Uncharted. But I'm a big enough Uncharted fan for that to just about seal the deal on a purchase anyway. Much the same way as I have a PSP, though I use it less than my DS, due to the DS having more games I want to play. On the other hand, there are way more games I want to play on PS3 than on Wii. So basically, neither company is inherently better at that, and only time will tell what's made available for these specific systems.

Eh, Vita's capabilities power wise doesn't seem like a huge leap from 3DS Resident Evil Revelations not even using the system's fullest capabilities.

But either way- good move for Sony. I kinda laughed at people's reactions when they showed ATT as the provider. I dunno, but ATT has always been good for me in terms of coverage, so...

Will still be waiting to see if it's worthy and if Sony will take Vita seriously which is something they did not with PSP. Hell, where is the PSP support Tretton talked about last year? Cause I don't see it.

LBP is the star of Vita imo :3

And I will be waiting for Ratchet and Clank Vita

As far as tech and hardware goes, I agree 100%. I'd still take the 3DS's potential game selection over the Vita's though.

And yeah, Nintendo screwed us on the price. I bet Sony will be taking a loss on their system sells though.

Potential game selection? Dude, I have 100 games for the NGP, literally, and I HAVEN'T EVEN GOT THE CONSOLE YET.

PSP, PSN PS3 Downloads, PSOne Classics, Minis. All backwards compatible. And then there's the Vita games.

Welp, I was planning on putting $250 towards the 3DS, but since I can count the number of games that the 3DS has that I want with one hand, I think I'll put that money towards a Vita instead. (unless Atlus brings out something big for the 3DS, of course)

I think I'm the only one that wasn't that impressed with the Vita. The only thing is it's graphical power. But we haven't seen many games from Nintendo to compare it with and I think the 3DS could compete with that. Mario Kart vs ModNation would be interesting to compare. Wasn't impressed with that Ruin game either. The front touch screen looks a but clumpy to me. It didn't seem to work as well as on the 3DS (or DS for that matter). Maybe because of the screen that is pretty big. And I honestly can't understand a back touch screen.

The reason why the 3DS update isn't out is because Nintendo's tripping balls over the Vita's awesomeness

Hah, you're talking about the PSP collection right? The 3DS has the entire DS collection too. :3

Yeah, Ninty's going to need to price drop for the holidays. They obviously have room too. Sony's obviously willing to take a huge loss on the Vita to make it competitive. Hardware wise, it really kills the 3DS. Retail-games wise, well, that's more of a personal preference thing. They'll both have a lot to offer.

I am way too lazy to think of something clever.

Vita is absolutely amazing! The dual touch screen and analog controls working seamlessly together is very impressive in Uncharted, and the stopping a game on PS3 and instant resuming on Vita is incredible!

I didn't say the Vita is superior in content to the 3DS though. Just not inferior.

The Vita has the edge in terms of power, and therefore potential - and it has better social features. The 3DS' only differentiating point is a great 3D screen.

I wonder if they will have Uncharted for this. Probably not.

Although I hate Sony (I I REALLY do), I'm happy they kind of brought it with the "Vita." This will almost certainly force Nintendo's hand tomorrow to really bring it with 3DS. I expect some eShop related surprises tomorrow for sure (If it ever launches tonight!!!!)

The Vita is way too cheap for what Sony said it has. There has to be a catch...

Note: How many people do you think are going to buy this after Sony got hacked?

I'd beg to differ with you there. In game design I think creativity and execution gives you the edge, and for me Nintendo's always won that battle. Basically, I'm just saying I'd prefer spending $250 to play Super Mario 3DS than $250 to play Uncharted. :3

@pixelman: Ooh, now you're making the hard comparisons! Super Mario 3DS vs. Uncharted...y'see, that's why I always wind up with both machines.

That's weird. I didn't get the 3DS just because of it's "Great 3D screen". I still have yet to see a game to take the advantage of the 3D effect (and I mean impressively).

I do commend that Vita is powerful. But power can only take you so far. At least the touchpad on the back is promising in terms of how it will be used. Sony is going to have to really treat Vita much differently than they have treated their PSP. Because they can beat their chance, stomp their feet, clap their hands, hop on one foot and turn around twice- but the inconvenient truth is that they did not take the PSP as seriously as they should have.

The Vita price kinda surprised me, but I have a feeling they'll try to make up costs with expensive as hell games. If the games are like 50-60 bucks you can count me out. Sony has always had the better power, but never any games I actually wanted to play. Nintendo has the fun factor, but the "Play with your close friends only" mentality. I'm not throwing away my 3DS just yet though.

If only I was better at robbing banks, and I could do that too...

Seriously though, when the next Monster Hunter game gets released for it, nothing will stop me from buying one.
