#1. Agreed, but I'm a Nintendo gamer. I need to have some victories here and there over the PS-Triple fanboys.
#2. Because Nintendo is a video game company and not a mega-corporation.
#3. Depends on who you are. If you're a...

I don't mind the move. I wish they tried something a bit more...original though. This is a rip-off of nintendo, yes. But if I was in charge of Nintendo, I would take it as a compliment that the competition is trying so hard to replicate my companies success.

See, if I was in charge of nintendo, I would try to sue Sony for every penny they had. Then, I would use the money to bribe every reviewer to say bad things about Natal when it came out, leaving other companies in ruins. Then, I would dominate the gaming industry by announcing a new system, and I would continue to dominate until I died.
I thought they looked quite cool, until I noticed the massive lollipop bulb on top of the right controller. What the hell is up with that? Looks like it's halfway through inflating a balloon. Ehn well, can't judge on appearance - the Gamecube was cool despite looking like a designer handbag - let's hope it's matched with some cool games and it could possibly challenge the Wii in terms of playability. Let's hope they fix the lag thing first, though.

@Machu, just to put it into perspective, say you never heard of the Playstation Move. It is June of 2010 and E3 is today. Nintendo reveals their newer more advanced controller, the Nintendo Move. It features a wireless nunchuck, and built in wii motion plus. While us, as nintendo gamers, would not accept it as much, we certainly would try to find the better qualities of it more if it was made by Nintendo rather than Sony.
Until I hold it in my hand and get to play a game with it, I am withholding judgment on whether it will kill sony, nintendo, or if it is a joke. I mean, think how sony fans felt in 2006. They were amped for the PS3 and what were we looking at? A little white box called the "Wii". I refuse to eat humble pie if this turns out to be a good thing. As fans of nintendo, we should be more accepting when a company has an idea that seems like a gimmick, but has potential to have success.

You have to admit, the glowing ball on the top is a little much.
Just let it happen.

@jangonov: I think people are complaining about it/annoyed by it not because of what it is or how functional/good/fun it will be, but because of how blatantly Sony is trying to latch on to Ninty's coattails despite previously taking the position that the Wii and its large "causal" install base were irrelevent, silly, or just kids playing with toys. That, and the fact that Sony has a continuing pattern of adopting others' already existing ideas and acting like they're being the innovative ones.
@TokenGirl: Lol, that's the eact same thing i thought. I'm pretty sure i saw it as a prop in some movie on MST3K. =)
@110percentful From a technology standpoint, I think it is great, By having an orb, the PSEYE can track distance by judging the size of the orb, and knowing that it has to be a certain size for each foot. It removes a sesor bar that you have to point at, and replaces it with a camera that tracks the controller, and can be used to put your image into the game, or even do a video feed.
From an aesthetic point of view, yeah the thing looks ridiculous.

@jangonov: Yeah yeah I hear ya dude, and I'd buy that built in motion+ and wireless nunchuk bundle in a flash. But... Nintendo wouldn't put a coloured light blob on top of it now would they, and it would be cool. This thing... 'the Move', is a sight for sore eyes, also, I'm intrigued to know what the blob is made of and how it will react to impact. And I don't know about anyone else, but late at night in a dark room playing games, waving this light around in front of my face, erm...
Sony have announced a wii-motion+ rip with a wireless nunchuk and a free coloured blob. Awesome!

Wait, it uses a camera? Ok, now I see why it needs the ball. It still looks weird, though.
Just let it happen.

True, and for that I am a little peeved at Sony. But the controller as a whole is not a bad idea. It is a wiimote in every way, except instead of having a camera track the sensor bar emiting IR light, the light come from the controller, and the camera is near your tv. This works a little better in my opinion, because the camera can be used for other things, while a sensor bar just kinda sits there.
@110percentful it isn't like the orb on top is there for the heck of it. By being an orb, the camera (PS eye) can see where the controller is, and how far it is from the screen, without pointing at it. couple that data with the motion sensors, and you have a system that can keep better track of the player.
I didn't think it was a rip-off until I saw the second controller. Yikes, that does look similar. To be honest I have a bigger problem with the name than anything else. The Sony Move? Lame. I'm not going to be too harsh on it until I see some games for it.

Yes the tech is good, but it's still borrowed (as always with them). Look at Natal, whilst I have my doubts about that too, it is way ahead of Move, yet constructed in similar time. Sony will get customers with this I'm sure, but only the die-hard Sony fans who've been dying to play Wii all this time.
I'll stop bashing now I guess, but hey, it's fun. Sony suck!
