So I stumbled upon a goldmine this morning. Kotaku posted this "Want The Heavy Rain Demo Right Now?" article detailing how to get the Heavy Rain playable demo prior to the official PSN debut on Feb 11. The kotaku article is here: http://kotaku.com/5464839/want-the-heavy-rain-demo-right-now-...
They describe how to do it, but I'll break it down for ya (keep in mind the server is pretty taxed all the time on this promo site, given how many people have discovered this)-
1. go to: http://www.precinct52.com/case1117_briefing - the Precinct 52 (alternate reality game) site 2. register for an account (maybe 18 fields, none of which are personal) 3. actually manage to login (took me 3 refreshes--if it hasn't popped up in 4 or 5 minutes try again) 4. choose the following pieces of evidence:
Short cigarette (117b) - click the Cigarette picture stack, select the middle resulting picture
Origami bird
Coffee shop C (it says "diner") - bottom-right corner, "Diner" is lit up
117h (tyre tracks). - click the Tyre Tracks picture stack, select the 117h (second from right I think)
Once you have all 4, click the folder, hit submit, and you'll get your 12-digit redemption code. Enjoy!
EDIT - keep in mind, the code won't work with NA accounts. I have dummy accounts for all respective regions--my UK account allowed it to install just fine. Might require a European account though--keep that in mind.
SWEET man.....It took me having to do it with my UK account and for some reason download it through my US account and it worked, just started downloading it Now. Thankx man, you again made my day, as Im still playing your game you hooked me up with as well from time to time lol. Should be playing in about 15 minutes or so.
Pretty boring, I thought, as a game. Story would probably be semi-interesting to watch, as I enjoy generic murder mysteries, but playing it is a snooze fest.
The walking controls are weird and slow, and having giant "PRESS X" buttons pop up constantly really takes me out of the experience. It works well in fights, which are pretty cool, but that's only a small portion of the game from what I've seen so far. The characters' faces look weird, too, especially the prostitute's. I quit early on in the second section, when you change characters.
It's definitely impressive that they've made the dialog and cinematics so dynamic, but other than that I still feel like I'm playing choose-your-own-adventure meets Simon Says with awkward-looking faces and mouths that don't move right.
Too bad you didn't enjoy it--I, on the other hand, feel it's quite possibly the most immersive experience I've ever had bar none and am dead-set on tracking down Indigo Prophecy as well. As has been stated countless times--it's not a demo game, and it's by no means an action game. The evidence-gathering is great, the story branching is stellar, etc. But yeah--I've known for a long time that a lot of people's tea cups won't be filled with Heavy Rain...juice.
