You could get one of those early PS3's with PS2 backwards compatibility.

Well, I just ordered the darn thing along with MGS3. Cost me 54$... Not bad.

Not bad at all. Now did you get one with PS1 compatibility?

I think I got the fat one, so yes.

Thinking about getting Kingdom Hearts or FFX now. What about racing? Any good racing games?

Tons of good racing games. I'm just not interested in them. Just wondering though, what kinda budget are you on?

I had a temporary job for spring break, but being in high school means I can't have a proper, permanent job yet. I don't feel comfortable saying how much I own, but I can say it isn't enough for a PS3 (so 250$) alone.

@tertris all PS3s retail for 250$. I don't have that kind of money for the console and the games...

Like I said earlier, I'm more of a Nintendo guy. I ain't getting a Wii U until I see more worthwhile games an features for it. Plus, my 3DS has me hooked for now.

I just want a PS2 for some quick, fun, and affordable way into this other spectrum of gaming.

Gotcha. I myself do not have a job, I wish I did cause I have almost no money.

@Rocko52 Have you ever played Sonic Riders Zero Gravity? If so, what did you think of it? I'm trying not to rely too heavily on reviews, because they can be sometimes misleading (looking at you PMD...)

No I haven't, I like Sonic games, but I'm not really into racing games besides Mario Kart.

Slim can play psone games, too. Fats are cheaper, though. Luckily PS2 games are cheap, and you got a good price. Grab the first Ratchet, Jak, and Sly games when you get a chance. They should be ultra cheap these days.

In that case (since the PS2 has no PSN) You should hunt down MGS, FF 7-9, DQ 7, and several others I can't remember off the top of my head...

Seriously, Jak & Daxter is one of the best games on the system and it's only $2.

Where's it only $2?

Zero Gravity is better imo. Also check a local pawnshop for PS2's. I saw a store near my house a few months ago with a bunch silver ps2 slims. Ask a store like walmart or another major electronic retailer about what they have in the back of their store because a local Zellers still has 3 Gamecubes with PM:TTYD bundled with it for grabs.

There was a Play N Trade with so much retro stuff near my house, but they just went out of business...

I don't think Walmart has any and GameStop is...well...GameStop...

I have a PSP for that

@CanisWolfred I'll hit you up once I find it

Wouldn't you rather play PS1 games on a TV screen and with their actual controller than on the PSP?

Well you should ask because a walmart near me has a buch of old ps2 games along with a few new ones out for $20. The older ones are $2 and are new. Also keep an eye out for Fifa 13 and PES 13 because those will become collectables soon as they are the last licensed and published ps2 games in the world. I have the last licensed ps1 game and I found it for $1!! Keep your eyes peeled and don't be afraid to ask retailers because most likely, they still have some old stock and want to sell it to anyone they can.

PSP, because of PS1's terrible graphics and the fact that I only have an HD TV (I meant it in the way that I don't have SD TV). Sure, it has SD Video setting, bi that's not enough to warrant using it. With PS2, I can at least see something (I know because I true depth my Game Cube).

Gamestop, ebay. I'll see if amazon has it too for that price. Edit amazon has it for even less disk only, a little higher for the case.

@Ark_Sin
So on an HD TV PS1 looks worse than on an SD one?

@CanisWolfred
Which one though?
