Following the success of the NES classic and SNES classic, Sony has decided to release their own.

A classic version of the PS1.

It'll be interesting to see how this sells in comparison to Nintendo's retro consoles.

Currently Playing: Yakuza Kiwami 2 (SD)

This will sell well.

We don't stop playing because we grow old; we grow old because we stop playing.

I've never been interested in these classic/mini consoles.

I have most of the PS1 games I like on my Vita.

Since I didn't grow up with PS I am going to need a full list of the games on offer as 100 is too high to be an impulse buy. However I will say these systems are making it easier to retire my original hardware.

But can we add more games to it and have custom borders?

@Yosheel That would raise the price a bit more don't you think? also, the original controller didn't have sticks.

@Ryu_Niiyama The dualshock that came out halfway through the systems life did though, and a lot of games supported those.

@link3710 ...I know about the revision. That isn't what I said. I speculated that the pricing would likely go up with the analog and that the original controller didn't have analog. Still I doubt having the original config would impact the game list.

If this has Harvest Moon, Spyro, Silent Hill, and at least one Resident Evil (preferably multiple, except the directors cut and dead aim) I might consider it.

Sadly I don't have much nostalgia for the PS1 so brand loyalty won't be enough this time.

No too interested myself, the only games that I have SUPER fond memories of on the PSX are FFVII & Tekken 3. There are cheaper ways of experiencing those games elsewhere.

I was considering getting the Mini SNES soon, but now I might hold off for the Mini PS1. I wonder what the rest of the game selection will be.

@Yosheel also one thing, if they are using regular controllers it might take the revised controller.

@Anti-Matter The original model PS3 have more of a guarantee of overheating/YLOD than a risk. It's only a matter of when. I've had three die/get fixed/die/repeat on my over the years. Now onto a PS3 slim and very happy with it (the large hard drive is also greatly appreciated with all the good stuff Sony is putting on their store for download.)

Can't wait to see what the other 15 games will be for the PS1-mini. Would love to see at least one more FF disc on there. Metal Gear Solid is pretty much mandatory, as is a Resident Evil. SF Alpha 3 would be a great pick, as 2D games continue to look great (if I were god of Sony I'd included Pocket Fighters, but that ain't happening.) About a zillion great RPG's to pick from to add. I say Grandia, but it probably won't happen. Spyro and Crash obviously. Hopefully Crash Team Racing.

And the two games I would most want, but don't have a chance in heck of getting on: THPS 1/2.

The Wii U is still the world's best console. Buy one today!
