IAmNotWill

My second attempt at this, after the one on Push Square barely got any responses lol. This thread is for anyone that has played the beta and eventually the final game.

I want to get the game Day 1 because I love Smash Bros. so much, but I have been having second thoughts because it just looks too different. Can anyone give their thoughts of what they played so far?

Game doesn't have Crash right? It sucks.
At least it has fortesque.

Considering the fact that everything with Crash in it lately turns to suck anyways, it's probably for the best. Besides, Jak is in it. He's just like Crash, except his games are actually good.

It's not available publicly to PS3 owners until next week (or now if you use PS+).
I look forward to shooting you all as Colonel Radec >: D

I hope Tretton is playable in this one.

For you, the day LordJumpMad graced your threads, was the most important day of your life. But for me, it was Tuesday.

You can hear the crash fanboys tracking down retro and Jon. ;_;
But I think you guys may want to tone down the hate a bit, you might set some people off.

DL the beta, the offline tutorial is limited to Parrapa, so I couldnt even try out all 6 of the characters move sets. I tried several times to play online but kept getting errors whether attempting with 1 player or 2. Maybe tomorrow when people go to work, school, wherever the servers won't be so slammed. .

I would buy a PS3 just for that game if Tretton was in it.

I've been playing it for the last 2-3 months and it's alright. It has some serious balancing issues and I don't like that you can only acquire a kill by triggering a super. Also, the player's attacks don't have much weight to them, so when you bashin' on enemies relentlessly, it feels like you not doing much of anything to them, especially when nothing but a super attack will actually land a point for you.

I guess I should explain this: regular/strong attacks only build your special meter, which can go up 3 levels and only those attacks will acquire points for you. But, these attacks are extremely varied with the numerous characters and it creates a sever unbalance within the characters, which will only intensify when the full release becomes available.

Does it play a lot like SSB? Or do those differences make it feel pretty different?

The only major difference I can find between the two is that your goal is not to knock your opponent off the screen, rather you must drain them of all of their health. Also, instead of a final smash, you have 3 different All-Star moves, each getting stronger depending on how long you decide to hold back your saved All-Star power you build up from hitting other players.

Sucks, sucks, sucks, sucks, sucks, sucks, sucks, sucks, sucks, sucks, sucks, sucks, sucks harder than Brawl!

Balancing is the main issue, but also the art assets lack cohesion among each other, especially when it comes to stages. Just a mish-mash of randome PlayStation franchises dumped into each stage.

It was done on purpose because not all Playstation games look alike, they each have their own unique art style, so they really wanted to respect each games appearance and keep it looking the way it does, also it keeps the game looking interesting to see different styles collide so it doesnt bother me.

also, you might want to calm down a bit man, I see your raging a bit too hard, its just a game...

I still have no idea whether they are being far more original or uncreative hacks for putting more generic fighting gaming into a Smash Bros. like game. It's either a nice twist on the formula, or "it plays like Smash Bros and we have Sony characters, throw in other fighting game stuff at random, derpy derpy doo".

I've only played about 3 rounds and I can confirm there are balancing issues, even with the few characters we get. Since you can only kill with specials, and every special kills in one hit, it makes some much better than others. This game would be better with a health bar.

Yep there are extreme balancing issues, and if you manage to save up for a level 3 super, you basicly win.

IGOR!
