@Strofan7: Interesting tidbit. To those dedicated to following various leaks and statements, the idea that PS2 games on PSN are coming "eventually" is old news. Even so, every little reconfirmation is appreciated. The REAL question is...when the crap are they finally going to get around to DOING it?

Anything is possible via emulation. A hacker has already made current PS3s capable of running PS2 games with minimal hardware modifications. If an enthusiast can do this all on his own, surely Sony can. They have to have something up their sleeves that they aren't allowing this already.
Yeah, it's full software emulation we're waiting for. After all, the PS3 (and slim PS2's for that matter) uses emulation for PS1 games. And Sony's original intent for the PS3 was software emulation...the hardware in the early PS3 models was meant to be a temporary solution while they finished the emulator. Then they changed managaement and the new guy's an A-hole who removed the hardware too soon.

A SOny Spokesmand said he'd love PS2 classics on the PS3. I wouldn't give up just yet about PS2 not appearing on the PShop.
But then again,Europe will have a crapy selection of Mr.bean kart racer, disneys little mermaid. All that crap that is on our European PS shop.

@Sean007s: You guys do have SOME good stuff we're lacking, like Crash Team Racing (why the crap doesn't America have this one?) and Theme Park (cult hit, methinks...but I'm a fan).

I've been drooling over Crash Team Racing ever since I saw Sean's YouTube videos. It would be nice if we all had access to the the same content in the PS Store.
picked up white knight chronicles before coming to work, can't wait to play it when I get home tonight. I got moved to second shift for a while for whatever reason...
@SilentJ: And with good reason. I have a disc copy, and it's one of if not THE best Mario Kart clones out there! It's just baffling that it hasn't hit PSN out here yet, especially considering how long Europe's had it and the fact that we DO have the three platformer Crashes from the PS1.

@josh - let me know how it is...I was like 95% down to preorder but got Heavy Rain instead since I'm jonesing for an awesome-graphics fix. An awesome graphfix.
I love the trailers...I just wanna make sure the solo is engaging, given that it's experienced through a party-observer and not actually the main character.

Where the hell is twisted metal, tomb raider, crash 2,crash bash, castlevania? We do not have any of that stuff. Sony Europe can seriously suck it. Big time.

@Sean - I've never understood who makes these decisions--be it Nintendo or Sony. So many good, would-result-in-plenty-of-sales-for-minimal-cost games haven't come out that need to. I can't fathom why Europe wouldn't have a nigh-indentical catalog of PS1 classic releases, given that there is no translation needed whatsoever. The Japanese/English-speaking differences are a bit more understandable...but Japanese PSN has plenty of games we've had released in English that aren't on our store (Brave Fencer Musashi anyone? Game would sell 100k overnight)

@Swerd_Murd: In some cases, there are weird legal reasons for games not being released. In others, it's just the 3rd party publisher being difficult (which Squenix is infamous for, at least in Western regions). None of this explains the difference in the FIRST AND SECOND-PARTY titles, which includes PS1 Crash games. That's just plain stupid.

@stuff - I'm wondering what the rationale behind Square being difficult is. I of course have heard the same/seen examples countless times....but none of that offsets the fact that releasing an already-finished game, with little-to-no legwork, that costs 6 bucks and will insta-sell seems like a goldmine. I get the weird legal reasons thing of course....I just grow confused/frustrated when Square continually neglects VC/PSN offerings accross the board...and I cannot imagine there are any legal oddities preventing Brave Fencer, Threads of Fate, Vagrant Story, or Chrono Cross, given that they only came out on PS1 and were all domestically released. I guess we wait and hope...
@Swerd: You seem to forget how remake-happy Squenix is. They said a long time ago that they were hesitent to release too much on these services because it might impact their ability to sell remakes. As a result, they're probably wasting WAY too much time trying to confirm they have no plans to remake Soul Blazer and other such titles. Of course, we all know they won't remake random stuff like that, but that won't stop them from delaying the releases.
Of course...they seem to have finally decided that VC releases and remakes can coincide (see: FFI and IV, the latter in Japan until Nintendo stops being full of it and RELEASES the damn thing out West!). So many that's no longer an issue and they're just being morons.

^Amen. FF4 SNES and FF4 DS might as well be different games anyway--one has no dififculty and nice baby sprites, the other has punishing difficulty and awkward FF7-era blockiness--not to mention completely different...everything, aside from concept. I hate that Enix got wrapped into Squaresoft's business model with the merger....Illusion of Gaia is an unbelievably fond memory, and one I can't relive outside of replacing my composite connection for my SNES.

@Strofan.... congrats on MW2 Platinum man. Im going to wrap up Veteran and Intel this weekend and then its just me and the brother blasting thru Spec Ops, we have already finished the first two entire levels all on Veteran. The ones with the AC130 and the Chopper Gunner were really tough.
Oh..... I meant to drop this tidbit in here, but there are rumors around the net, sorry but a little to tired at the moment to try to find the link, but there may have been a back door deal between Sony and SEGA that may net us getting Dreamcast games on PSN. We already have Gunstar Heroes and Earthworm Jim coming, so it may be possible.

Yeah, I heard about that a while back. All I hope is that they'll at least add ICO, as well as a bunch of obscure and now stupid-expensive/hard-to-find RPGs on there someday. If they do I'll totally get a PS3 someday.(unless they successfully drive the going prices down to a reasonable level, but if they couldn't do that to FF7, I doubt there's any hope for some genuinely rare games).
@Sean007s: You guys do have SOME good stuff we're lacking, like Crash Team Racing (why the crap doesn't America have this one?) and Theme Park (cult hit, methinks...but I'm a fan).
And Vagrant Story! Instead SCEA gave us Final Fantasy 8. Talk about adding insult to injury.>_<
And where the hell is Wipeout XL? Seriously, we have every other Hovercar Racing game(except Jet Moto 3 and Wipeout 3, but I'll assume the latter will come after XL) on the system, but they aren't even willing to give use the most profound game in the series.
@Slappy: Yeah, that Dreamcast tidbit is just one part of the leaked meeting minutes from September last year. Those minutes also contained the statement from Sony that their long-term goal was to get "every" PS2 game on PSN. Several other, unrelated things first leaked in those minutes have come to pass, so they should be considered 100% legitimate.
@Mickeymac: I don't actually know much about Vagrant Story, other than it's got a good following. I'd probably give it a go if it ever finally released on PSN in America. No clue what the delay is.
