I was just using IGN as an example. Those sites do the same thing. Their system is too inept to handle just a year, so they put "Dec 31" as a placeholder to mark that it will be out by that date at the latest. Always research something you see marked as December 31st on a website that sells games or runs news on games.
I tried Avatar and I thought it was crap. The camera I hated in particular as it was broken imo. I'm really not that interested in playing it again. Sorry CH
These exclusive games (PC are exceptions) I'm looking forward to on the Playstation 3: 10. White Knight Chronicle 2 9. God of War 3 8. Twisted Metal 7. Final Fantasy XIII (Hey it's an exclusive in Japan, so it counts!) 6. DC Universe Online (Same as below) 5. Final Fantasy XIV (Depending if online is free) 4. White Knight Chronicle 3. MAG 2. ModNation Racer 1. Gran Turismo 5
I still like to think of FF13 as exclusive, too, Smash Fan, haha. I am pretty sure Square already said 14 will have a fee attached to it, but I have been known to make mistakes, from time to time.
I just realized something... the PS3 doesn't have an upscaler?!
I was watching the Dragonball Evolution BD and put one of the extras that was on SD (easily noticeable when trying to bring the XMB and by the video quality) and that made me wonder, that perhaps my main movie player can't upscale... I checked a DVD, and although my PS3 is set up to 1080p, the TV said it was outputting 720p, rechecked the Dragonball Evolution BD and the SD content was 480p with the HD content at 1080p...
That's weird, cause apart from my PS3 there are 2 other DVD players in my house that I know for a fact have upscalers (Xbox 360 and a Samsung Upscaling DVD that came with the Plasma TV), and all this time I've beewn using my PS3 as my main DVD player... is it true for all of you, or I'm missing something in the config?

@DarkG.... yep you are missing something. In your settings there in fact is an upscaler for DVD playback. You have to turn it on for it to take effect. There is also an upscaler for PSone games that you play in your PS3. What it upscales it to Im not exactly sure, but we side by side upscaled Transformers BD/DVD in DVD player then PS3, and the upscaler definatly work very well.

It's on, I just re-checked to be sure... both DVD and PSOne upscaling is on (PSOne games still look not-so-good on my 42" TV lol)... maybe it's only SD content on BDs that don't get upscaled? cause DVDs upscale at 720p and most look almost as good as with the Upscaler DVD or the 360...
The only weird thing would be DVD movies switching resolution to 720p instead of 1080p... I'll check tomorrow my TV settings to see if there's anything wrong there or something... could have to do with PS3 settings to when I connected it to the Plasma TV yesterday...

@Adam: You might have made an mistake regarding Final Fantasy XIV having fees. According to http://gamer.blorge.com/2009/06/04/final-fantasy-xiv-free-to-... they have found sources that the online could be free. Here are some quotes in the article if you want flat-out evidences:
"I talked a little about the subscription model for the game yesterday, but today I received word from a source that a Square Enix rep at the booth have indicated that Final Fantasy Fantasy XIV will use a Free-to-Play (F2P) model, which has been gaining popularity recently. There are no details yet, but apparently Sony and Square Enix is currently in discussion regarding the subscription model.
Currently, Sony has revealed that SOE will utilize a similar Free-to-Play model for new MMOs in development for the PS3. I suspect that this is the model Sony has pitched to Square Enix. Since the PS3 is fully capable of acting like server, Sony has been throwing up PS3s onto racks to act as dedicated servers for other games, so this arrangement with Square Enix sounds plausible."
But I will watch for confirmation.
And want to know what's weird? Final Fantasy XIII being on the Xbox 360 outside Japan really, really pissed off a lot of Sony fanboys for no reason. There's even an huge petiton going on here: http://www.petitiononline.com/ps3exclu/petition.html (Do not sign that petition, it is stupid and the PS3 owners are still getting the better version).
@Stuffgamer1: Yeah, I also wished we would get an decent MMO that doesn't rape people of their hard-earn money. I will not buy an MMO game until there is an good console MMO game that is free. You can bet on that.
OMG, I'm sick of hearing stupid Sony fanboys crying about FFXIII being on 360.
I'm not saying Sony and it's fanbase are stupid, I'm just angry at the Sony idiots who complain about this crap.
I actually find it very funny how they are so upset and even dismissing the Xbox 360 version lol, their crying is one of the funniest things to read online lol

Hmm I was wondering about FF14 and If we have to pay for it or not. See, if online play was free I'd buy the game. Having to pay for DLC seems like the way to go with this and would be the only way I'd go for it. I'm hoping that it's free to play ... I don't care If 13 is going to be on the Xbox 360 either good for Microsoft.I'll buy it from Sony though.
I would like to point out that it has been PROVEN that the existance of the Xbox 360 version of FFXIII has had a negative impact on the overall quality of the PS3 version. Squenix declined to put the Japanese voice track on the PS3 version not because there wasn't room on the Blu-Ray, but because they wanted to keep the two verisons "as close as possible." Only thing the PS3 version still has going for it is only being on one disc and uncompressed video/audio (which is great, but still...the cuts suck).
I grant you that a lot of people wouldn't really care if the Japanese tracks are included or not (myself included), but there IS the principle of the issue. Namely, Squenix announced at E3 2008 that the 360 version would NOT affect the quality of the PS3 version in any way. In other words, they failed to follow through on this promise. Anyone who tells me I have no reason to be pissed about that has either not been paying attention or is just plain stupid.
My Backloggery Updated sporadically. Got my important online ID's on there, anyway. :P
Wait, you just said you don't care about the one and only change, and now, despite telling us otherwise, if we think you have no reason to be pissed we're just plain stupid?
I'm sure Square will get some good English voice acting in the game, at which point I won't care. I could see how someone who prefers to watch movies in their original language would be upset, but if you don't care... well, personally, I could think of better things to be pissed about. Terrorism, murder, theft, Orlick, etc.
It is a lame excuse from Square, and I'm confused as to their motive here, but oh well. We will make it through this dark night.
I stopped by to ask if anyone has tried MAG out. I downloaded it then there was a huge patch that took me an hour to download 34% of. If so, what do you think?
