@O_B: If you got your PS3 repaired by Sony, they'd wipe the drive. If you had a local shop do it, they would probably be able to save the data. If you simply get a new system, the data's lost anyway.
My Backloggery Updated sporadically. Got my important online ID's on there, anyway. :P
i might see what my local shop would charge then. it really seems like Sony is going to take the dastardly path of punishing those whose systems break and practically forcing them to buy a new one. Thanks, S-man, I'll remember this next-gen.

I admit, Sony doesn't handle data recovery from broken systems well AT ALL. At least when my 360 got RRoD (twice in less time than it took for my PS3 to YLoD once), I could simply attach the hard drive to the replacement and all of my data would be there, perfectly in tact. All Sony does is tell you to back up saved data frequently...which is all well and good, except for all the games that are copy-locked!

@OB_&_y2josh Man I'm sorry to hear about your PS3s guys. My friend recently got it as well and fixed it for $30 last week though I don't know how. I didn't get YLOD but my bluray drive gave out earlier this year. Guess it wasn't a very good year for our PS3s.
@Stuffgamer Thanks for the heads up regarding Tomb Raider Underworld. I'll definitely have to get the backstory before I really jump into the game.
Do you guys think we'll eventually get the Prince of Persia Trilogy HD in NA on a disc? My hard drive is already full so I'm not too crazy about having to download the entire collection off the PSN.
Not sure just yet. I am planning to get a 3d tv from Best buy this Black Friday though. I'm still kinda down that I missed out on a 50" 3d t.v. that included the 3d starter kit, CoD: Black Ops, and 50 dollars worth of movies for only 1K. Missed the sale by 2 days because I was working out of town last week. Hopefully they will one up that deal in a week or so.
Oh, and I think imma go with a used PS3 from Gamestop as well. Their doing a point reward system like Club Nintendo does and I should make enough points to get this Nintendo controller wallet I've been looking at.
That's my biggest doubt about getting one used from GS though. I figure I should be ok if I get the warranty for it but since its only for a year I was wondering how much Sony charges for a out of warranty repair? They made me paid 100 dollars (or so) when my 360 finally kick the bucket for a out of warranty repair.
I'll for sure keep that info in mind while finalizing my planned PS3 purchase. I'm leaning more towards a used system because I'm all most certain that GS offers double points for buy used rather then new products. They really have some great rewards that I could get sooner if I buy used one though. Idk...they may offer a awesomely irresistible bundle for BF like you mention.
@strofan-yeah but thats assuming you get a system from Gamestop, just saying. They don't cut much off for used systems,so of course it's a bad idea, really. If you get it from a pawn shop, ebay, friend/acquantance (as longas you have a guarantee which I got with all three) then it's just as good as Gamestop and a helluva lot of cheaper. but to each his own,I realize that GS is easier and in some people's cases, the only option.

I was at the shops this weekend and saw Ratchet & Clank: Quest for Booty for sale in disc form. I thought it was only available on the PSN Store. Seeing as it was $25, about the same as downloading it here, I got it. Does anybody here have that disc, or do you prefer downloading games to your ps3?

I was a little bummed when i heard that the 120 gb slim (which is what i have) does not have backwards compatability, but luckily for me, i still have my ps2 hooked up for if i ever need a little nostalgia
Forced Unleashed was ok, I definately recommend AC2 firsthand and have heard great things about HR. Other good ones (IMO, I dont know what genres you prefer) would be FFXIII, MGS4, and GoW3.

I never could stand a FF game (and from what ive seen of XIII at a friends 360, this is the worst one yet), MGS4 have caught my eye but not totally sure about that yet, thinking maybe get my hands on the earlier parts first, GoW3 Im defenitly getting sometime. Was looking at Infamous to, but i think my brother had that so ill just borrow his copy
