I was hoping the "HALO IS THE BEST" wouldn't come up However I'm ready to post my game collection for the Xbox, 39 Games in Total: Halo: Combat Evolved Halo 2 (Freeze's on the 11th Level, So I need a new Copy ) Fable: The Lost Chapters Starwars: Knights of the Old Republic Starwars: Knights of the Old Republic II: The Sith Lords Doom 3 Return to Castle Wolfenstein: Tides of War Splinter Cell Crazy Taxi 3: High Roller Voodo Vince Burnout Burnout 2: Point of Impact Burnout 3: Takedown Burnout: Revenge 007: Everything or Nothing Turok: Evolution OK, thats enough, my brains dead
@bro2dragons: I don't think FPS games have any more innovation restrictions than other genres. Yes, they're in first person, but you can't tell me that Doom = Half-Life = Halo = CoD = Metroid Prime.
You could say the same thing about innovation stagnation for any other genre of game. Platformers, sports, puzzles, all basically the same.
@Machu: you're not being rude, nor was i offended, you just misread me. i am in no way a Halo fan, i just respect what it did. i've never owned a non-nintendo system, and while i said if i were going to it would be a 360, Halo 3 would not be even in the first 10 games i would buy. and i am a bit ignorant as far as pc games go, but i didn't say you couldn't jump in others, just that there wasn't that same emphasis. but i may be ignorant here, as well. i've just not heard of others with that same super jump gameplay that made it almost platformer-esque. and i realize there were other shooters long before with the same multi-player craziness (hello! goldeneye is still famous for its multiplayer!) there's just not as many stories of the same blowing up a vehicle with 3 enemies in it and sending it flying into another enemy to make a win the game in the final seconds when you were down by 3 kills. perhaps there are those stories, and then some. i've just not heard them. and Halo did do a lot of copying. but it took the best elements of the predecessors, added a couple tweaks and overall created a copy that i personally feel is better than many of the originals, despite its own lack of originality. i'm a bit ignorant, but i'm giving full credit to that fact. so i'm not speaking from ignorance, merely from the experiences i do have. and again, i'm not touting the glories of Halo, at all. it's not in my list of 100 favorite games... prossibly not even my 300. i have first person shooters i like a LOT more, and which i feel were more influential, i just think as a series, Halo is one of the most consistently solid.
@Panda: i see alot more variation among the other genres you mentioned. FPS's have their differences, sure, but they still share more similarities than any other genre. again, as i said to Machu, nothing meant by it, just my observations.

Project Gotham Racing 2, Halo 1 and 2, Black, Razes Hell, Oddworld, Sniper Elite, Collin Mcrae Rally, Jade Empire, Fable....... I can keep going, I bought my shooters because of the controller was superb for shooters, well the new version of the controller I bought my racing games because of the custom soundtracks. I loved my XBOX, I really did. I actually put it dead equal with the PS2. I played all my RPG and Platformers on PS2.
Just gonna' point out that Sniper Elite was on the PS2 as well.
Bacon, RPG elements and cute girls, what more could you want?
@Machu...... I got you... your a PC fan and that definately explains the Half Life admiration. I played Half Life on PS2 and Half Life 2 and DLC on the Orange Box on X360. If your adding in Counter Strike as well I would have to agree with you. Also the Team Fortress and Portal, yeah its a great franchise and I do agree. I actually am a bigger Black Hawk Down fan on the PC as it was my first ever Multiplayer experience, I absolutely adore the PC series of the games, though I cant find my disc codes to access my games wich really tickes me off big time.
@Liam...... yeah I know but it ran so much better on Microsofts system and the controller was better for the game.
Oh yeah, Wolfenstein was a great game on the system as well.
When it first came out, there was one of the worst controllers ever, and the only memorable game at the time was Halo. Later on it was great though, with stuff like Psychonauts and a lot of multiplatform games on the PS2, and, like Supermarioman said, the 360 came. The original XBOX didn't last long enough.
Best thread ever

Now however while in this topic I would also like to hear some opinions on Halo. I have the first two as you've seen. But I've always liked the series for its story and atmosphere. But I want to hear your opinions!
It was an underrated console for its day. Too bad it just couldn't keep up with the PS2 sales-wise.
So far I can recommend Dead or Alive 1, Ninja Gaiden Black, Halo 1 and 2, Crimson Skies, Fable, and Jade Empire, but I've barely scratched the surface of the Xbox's extensive library!

Now there's someone I can whole heartedly agree with. Well spoken, bro2dragon.
