I recently bought Star Wars: Battlefront for Xbox 360 after buying a hard drive. Apparently, I didn't have the update required to play it, so I searched the Xbox website to see if there were any alternatives. The three alternatives I was given didn't work, which were a USB flash drive and burning a CD with the update and having Xbox Live, which I need a wireless thingy. Anyone who can play original Xbox games, can you help me here? If there was a similar thread, direct me there and close this. Thanks!

Hm. There is a list of old xbox that are compatible for the 360(on xbox`s website), and swear I saw BFII on there. I dunno though.

Looks like it should work. You could just plug the ethernet cord right into the Xbox for the update, you don't need a Live subscription for that or anything.
