Sony Computer Entertainment America announced God of War Collection, a PlayStation 3 compilation containing God of War and God of War 2 running at 720p with anti-aliased graphics. Fancy jargon for a crisper and more fluid looking game.
But, God of War Collection is more or less the same two PS2 games with trophies. Bluepoint Games, the studio behind Blast Factor for PlayStation Network, is handling the work.
Sigh.
Now, thanks to causal Nintendo being too lazy to make new games - well, so is Sony - when will this awful era of gaming end? Even Game Uninformer named MPTrilogy as a top 10 game PERIOD for this month - its a remake you tools, its a remake! Its a cookbook, is what it is - 'To serve gamers'............ I want my Dreamcast back!

I think this collection is a much worse deal than even the NPC series, but whatever, that's just me. I didn't like God of War to begin with, so I certainly don't care if the studio responsible for it wastes a minute or a year on something like this. And Blast Factor was pretty awful, so I care even less about that studio helping with this collection.
Of course, now that I think about it, most PS3's are not backwards-compatible, so there is a practical point to this for some PS3 users...
Pretty sneaky of Sony to take away backwards compatibility and charge their fans for roughly the same game. The only difference will be a shiny new coat of paint.
If you were a fan of this God of War series, why would you go through all the trouble to play it if you already know what happens?

I don't own a single God of War game . This is weird for me because God of War is supposed to be sony's big timer or whatever and the game itself is fun i just never bought it..I wouldn't say i'm a fan either. I might consider this though, seems like a good deal.

I like this God of War collection, with the prettier graphics and the Trophy support...and the fact that it works on new PS3's...and the fact that it fits on one Blu-Ray and takes up less of my limited storage space (now I'm getting down to semi-pointless details, but whatever). If they want to do more of this, say...with the Ratchet & Clank series, or the Sly Trilogy, I'd be quite happy with that. With all the trouble I hear Sony's having getting a full emulator running on PS3, this could be the best option anybody has.

Sony infected Nintendo with the whole user generated content idiocy.
Erm, since when? Nintendo almost never uses user-generated content in their games, but I wish they did. In some games, especially platformers, I spend much more time in the editor than the main game, and I still have my fingers crossed after all these years that we'll get a Mario level editor someday.

They made a massive push starting with Wii Music, following up with Made in Ore, Flipnote and MvDK3 (primarily pushed as a "make your own levels" game). It's likely that they've been retooling games meant to be sold as UCG-based after the Wii Music flop, causing the the game drought that killed Wii momentum until Resort came out. At E3 they stated something to the effect of "for people who prefer professionally made content", suggesting they are aware of the problems in their UGC plan now. And what game was one of the first this gen to push UGC hard? None other than Little Big Planet (which also flopped). Nintendo fell in love with the UGC idiocy around that time. I doubt Blast Works set that off, that one was so low profile that noone noticed when it flopped.
Wii Music was planned before the Wii was even released. You can't call that a copy cat. And it's a good game, anyway. MvDK (also a good game) is just taken from an older game, so it also can't be blamed on LBP. Flipnote is quite popular and free, so I see no reason to complain about that. I have my own reservations about Made in Ore, but I'll wait until it's out to judge since we don't know much about it at this juncture.
Still, you're listing four minor games, one of which isn't even a game and is free (it's like complaining about PictoChat). It's not like it's a trend, and it's not "infecting" their major titles.
