The box was a lot smaller than I expected for the Kinect, but I'm about to hook it all up and give it a try. Here's hoping I don't have to move that big desk out of the way to clear more room. We'll see...
So here's what I'm getting out of Gamerankings reviews of Kinect games:
Kinect Adventures-Mediocre but not terrible. Comes with Kinect so you're getting it regardless. Dance Central-Kinect's killer app, but still a little boring in solo player. Probably the best dance game ever. Kinect Sports-Not great but pretty good. Being able to use your legs helps gameplay, but aside from that we've seen this plenty before. Better than Kinect Adventures. Kinectimals-Not bad but nothing sepcial. Kinect Joyride-Oof.
It's doesn't seem like it's getting any better than that, at least not anytime soon.
Do you think there'll be any possibility that MoveModo and Kinectaku will end up being just about PS3 and X360 games, respectively? Instead of just reviewing Move and Kinect games?

I would actually love to see reviews for XBLA and PSN games on Kinectaku and Movemodo. It would probably be a lot of work though considering that the NL staff is stretched pretty thin between these three sites.
@NintendoCoDGamer@WolfRamHeart We've got far too much to catch up on to make them into dedicated PS3 and 360 sites, especially XBLA and PSN where there must be over 400 games available on both services combined. That said, in future of course we would certainly like to expand the sites but it may have to wait until the next generation of consoles.
So I spent a little bit of time with the Kinect last night and can relate a few of my impressions: 1. Setup is very easy and straightforward. Even the facial recognition, albeit a tad tedious, was simple. Just make sure you have that recommended 6-8' of space and you're golden. I was as close as 3-4 feet to it at various times and it still seemed to acurately recognize what I was doing. I can imagine it wouldn't be so forgiving with 2+ people however. In the rare instance when you do get too close, I found that it popped up a little "warning box" at the top left corner of the screen that essentially said: BACK UP!
2. The video conferencing is very awesome. I was chatting with a co-worker and his family. Voices are fairly clear but obviously grow fainter the further away you are sitting from it. The Kinect did a great job of "following" me if I moved around so that I was always in the middle of the screen. Even the images were clear with proper lighting but deteriorated quickly during lower-light conditions as well as introduced blur during fast movements. Again, none of this happened when the room was fully lit.
3. Responsiveness: It's responsive as heck. I NEVER ran into a situation where it didn't mimic exactly what I was doing. It tracked my hand and arm movements, my foot and leg movements, my head movements, and torso movements flawlessly. It would mimic the "hula-hoop" motions I made with my hips. My avatar would turn when I turned. It was spot-on. I tried all kinds of things to "confuse" it, including breaking out a few dance moves and the Kinect translated my movement to my avatar perfectly. One of the games on Kinect Adventures puts your avatar in a glass box underwater. All of these fish, sharks, etc. keep crashing into the glass and making holes in your box. Water rushes in and you have to "plug" the holes with your hands and feet. In one instance, a Hammerhead Shark crashed into my glass box and 5 holes were created. The Kinect tracked my movements perfectly as I plugged the holes with my hands and feet. There was still 1 hole remaining and I was able to use my head to "plug" it!
Overall, I'm ecstatic with the purchase. I really wish I could have spent more time with it yesterday, but at least tonight I'll hopefully have the whole family around to experience it and get their impressions. I guess if I had to find something to sum up the "wow" factor I would say this: Remember when you were a kid and you would walk into the supermarkets, etc and there was a tv monitor set up with a camera to watch all the people coming in the door? You'd stand in front of the camera, making all kinds of funny faces and silly motions while watching yourself on the tv. Well, the Kinect gives you that same kind of feeling, just 100x better.
Okay then. Will there be any chance that there'll be big-ticket games reviewed?
e.g. Black Ops Reach MW2
I wouldn't really mind not having XBLA and PSN stuff actually.
Just asking..
