Topic: There should be an NFL Blitz for Wii!

Hey, what's up nintendofiles? I currently own a Wii and I love it but years ago I had a PS1. One of the games I used to really love playing on it was NFL Blitz. I've tried Madden but it's too complex and I lose interest quickly. What I loved about Blitz was that it kept you focused on the action of the game: During the snap you are the QB until you pass and then your perspective switches to being the receiver. When on defence you select between which player you want to control and then try to sack. Sometimes your guy even indulged in a little trash talk. Beautiful in it's simplicity, it was always a joy to play. Anyway, I think they should bring a fun and intuitive game like that to the Wii. It's perfect for it, really. Who's with me?

All I remember about Blitz is it crashing during the first play of my first game. I vaguely remember returning it that day, too.

It seemed like a good concept though, and I think games like Madden haven't gotten too complex, too. Last American football game I enjoyed was Super Play Action Football or Tecmo Super Bowl.

Come on, friends,
To the bear arcades again.

Weird, I don't remember it crashing at all. Perhaps you got a bad one. However, I've read many comments online about people feeling the same way about the complexity of Madden games. Last one I bought was a couple years ago for the Wii...meh. I sold it after a couple months. I'm surprised that Blitz hasn't continued to be developed over the years though, particularly for the Wii. It was a great arcade football experience! There must be some other fans of this game out there?
P.S. Tecmo was fun too though! Haven't played the other...what console was it for?

Way to title your thread to make it seem like a Blitz game was coming to Wii. Also, I still own copies of NFL Blitz and NFL Blitz 2001 for the N64, and they're awesome games, except for the nasty rubberband AI. Try completing a pass when you're currently winning without having the computer intercept it, or to dodge a tackle without having the computer sack you and make you fumble. The game is awesome, but the AI is quite unfair...

"Don't make enemies, they'll stab your heart; don't make friends, they'll stab your back. Including me, including you, all men are trash. Don't love; don't be loved. Have nothing to do with other; live in isolation."

Sorry, MF I should've Titled it I Want NFL Blitz for Wii. My bad. I'm sure that improvements could be made to the AI now. I was playing it in the mid to late 90s and thought it was a lot of fun then. I do remember feeling likewise ripped off sometimes though, but some of the best video games can make you feel that way sometimes. So, I take it you'd be down with a Wiimake of this game then?
BTW, I'm also looking forward to the new Metroid. Think I'll pick that one up for sure!

Good new title. And yeah, I'd be up for a new Blitz game for sure, but with Midway now belonging to someone else, who knows if it could happen. Definitely improve on the AI, though, because it was downright unfair in the N64 games...

Right on! There must be other Blitz fans out there? Let's get this happening!

Really?! Just the two of us then? Sigh...

How could you be on the fence about Blitz?! Come over to the dark side. Muhahahahahahaha! ; >
Well, in case my dream doesn't come true I picked up a copy of Blitz for gamecube today for $5. At least I can relive my PS1 experience a bit. I'd still like to see some motion controls incorporated into a Wii version though.

Well, after playing a few games I can say that this version is pretty good too! I remember the original being a little more edgy, raucous and aggressive; not that this has version has been neutered, just toned down. Yes, parts of the game can feel a little too automated and there are still definitely times when you feel "midwayed" by the game but, overall, still a great, classic Blitz feel and still lots of fun! Less money than I'd spend on a download to relive a classic...good deal!
I still think it'd be cool to incorporate motion controls into a Wii version though. I picture it like this: You point at the receiver you want with remote, press B to select and then hold down A+B and make a throwing motion. Of course, this should be motion plus so that you can calibrate for accuracy and there should be a sensitivity slider so you can adjust how hard you want to throw. Once thrown the receiver could mimic a catch with a combination of buttons and making a grasping motion with the remote and nunchuk. Once caught you could maneuver with the nunchuk stick and swing the remote for swats and blocks. I can only hope some enthusiastic developer will read this! ; >

Yes, exactly! Most sports games blow. They bog you down in details and are not that fun. This one was!

Come on, Blitz fans! There must be more of you out there! Weigh in! Go for a late hit! Talk some trash even!

You must not be an RPG fan. The way I see it, sim sports games are a lot like an action rpg.

Nailed it! I'm not. I like a more arcade like experience usually. Most RPGs I find incredibly boring (unless it's a rocket propelled grenade ; >) However, I'm always willing to try something new.
