Topic: New Tomb Raider is an Xbox exclusive

If this was game was an exclusive for PS4.... "Sorry, Xbox fans! " There wouldn't even be as big as a problem. Double standards in the gaming community. I feel sorry for the Playstation 4 owners but get over it. Enjoy Uncharted 4.

Microsoft spent several million dollars "buying" the exclusive rights to this game, hoping that it will attract more gamers to their console thus generating more revenue for them in the future. SE did the math, and obviously felt that whatever Microsoft was paying them would be equal to or more than what they would have earned had they sold the game on PS4. I'm sure SE is perfectly fine with this decision.

This is kinda funny when you consider at one point most console games were exclusive, now fanboys get up in arms over one.

No, no. You have it all wrong. Exclusives only kill the industry when it's not on your system. If it is, then it magically becomes better.

Which is why MS paid for the exclusivity rights, like all other console makers do from time to time.

Ignoring your ignorance on Nintendo's reasonable budgets, Nintendo has a bigger justification to lose money on software because they want Wii U to succeed. So even if they didn't make profit, they could be happy if it helps system sales. This is entirely limiting Tomb Raider sales so Microsoft better have paid ALL the money if SE wants this to not be a terrible idea.

though again, I don't mind this actually because I want the other consoles to not be boring and meaningless.

I'm fine with consoles having exclusives (I don't think any Nintendo fan can say they're not with a straight face). But that should be the realm of 1st party development or established franchises on that platform (like Final Fantasy on Playstation, for example). Essentially bankrolling what is normally a multii-plat franchise to become exclusive in order to artifically boost your hardware sales is really, really lame.

Exclusives build consoles dang it, if you don't have that mind set that Tomb Raider should be exclusive to Xbox One, then I don't know what to say.

Exactly--that's what it boils down to. I think this story in particular has taken me to the edge of my tolerance for these entitled attitudes.

Exclusives rock. They are what sell consoles and what makes consoles stand apart from one another. For god's sake we are posting on a Nintendo forum: We know better than anybody how important exclusives are. I don't dislike Microsoft at all for going after exclusivity with Tomb Raider, in fact, I applaud them. They are a company. They want to make money, and sometimes you need to invest money to do so. They did exactly that, and I say "bravo."

I remember back in the say when doing things like this were good. I'll probably own all three systems by next year so its no biggie.

ALso if you watched both confrences you heard alot of timed excluives from both camps.

Timed exclusives is such a bad bragging right and quite frankly a waste of these two companies money.

Back then we didn't have the internet and a place for everyone to post their rather unfortunate opinions (even if they are biased and entitled)
