Topic: New Tomb Raider is an Xbox exclusive

So yeah, at Gamescom Square Enix announced that the new Tomb Raider game will be a Xbox exclusive and man Sony fans (not fanboys mind you) are extremely pissed. If my memory served me correctly, Tomb Raider has always been a Playstation-focussed game and this move from SE is very confusing. I guess them moolahs from M$ is just too hard to resist?

It's a d*ck move, but the anger has been directed, very unfairly towards MS. The scumbags to be p*ssed at are SquareEnix and Crystal Dynamics. The decision makes no sense and CD's 'apology' was pathetic and why even bother offering one. Do Nintendo fans ever get an apology for a kick to the groin? Now. That half-hearted fake bs doesn't serve any purpose but to make things worse. Just say 'we took the moneyhat' or better yet, don't discuss it. Anybody with a brain knows why it's exclusive.

You forgot to mention how Square Enix expects it to sell 10 million copies, then will be disappointed with everyone else when it doesn't reach that number

Yeah you're right microsoft showed some benjamins franklins to Square Enix to get the game for there console. But it is funny to see Playstation fanboys getting mad though.

@WaLzgi Which is again confusing because according to the charts, the PS4 version of Tomb Raider sold 2x more than the Xbone...and now they do this. It's like they went full silly or something.

Actually didn't the original Tomb Raider started on the SEGA Saturn and then got ported to PlayStation? Anyway, it was a very PS-centric franchise and I can certainly see why the fans are upset. But it's just business as usual on the console market, it happens all the time. Deal with it.

@Samurai_Goroh Well, tell that to all the raging PS fans out there. Good luck. As for me, I'm not even upset in the slightest because I don't even own a PS4 yet . Cause this game will come to the PC in 6 months....like all Xbone "exclusives".

MS isn't stupid, it has to know it can't keep letting 'exclusives' go to PC. At least not within relatively short windows like 6 months. Rise of the Tomb Raider may be there for PC eventually but if MS has spent its money wisely it won't be for at least two years.

I'm not upset in the slightest because I never cared about Tomb Raider to begin with. I do remember playing Tomb Raider on the Dreamcast also, so SEGA platforms did share part of the focus back in the day.

@Gamer83 I'm not exactly sure about that to be honest. Both Ryse and Dead Rising 3 are coming to the PC and those games are not even a year old. Those two are quite notable exclusives in my opinion. Once SE does not achieve their sales goal on the Xbone, I'm pretty certain the PC will see a version of Tomb Raider sooner than we might think.

Funny story. The first game I thought was extremely mediocre... really established all the bad stuff in the modern games. Just grinding through with the arrows and some jumping/climbing until the end. Very unenjoyable so I don't think anyone is missing anything.

Hilarious to see Sony fans pretending they never liked the game and/or that exclusive games are some kind of shady business practice. They seem to think all those years of Sony exclusives that killed Sega were just a by-product of Sony being awesome.

Unless MS are somehow going to own the game, this can only be a timed exclusive. It could also effectively be ported with a little DLC thrown in and renamed. Exclusives barely exist unless Sony, Nintendo or MS completely fund them

And I'm still not getting Xbox One.

Anyway, I wonder if this will develop a reaction like the Bayonetta 2 reaction. Because companies are evil and we deserve to play the games they make without having to buy a specific system!

^ Bayo was a dead IP with one game that Nintendo rescued. Tomb Raider was a long-standing and commercially successful series with strong historical ties to Sony hardware.

It will probably be timed exclusive. It is impossible for Square to resist all the money waiting for them on other consoles.

I love how developers cream all over MS how awesome they were with helping the reboot, and yet I see that thanks to that X1 got inferior version of Tomb Raider DE. Great job, guys?

They complained that the original reboot, which was released on Xbox, PS, and PC didn't meet sales expectations, and now they're they're making the sequel an XBox exclusive? Square-Enix's upper management needs to be smacked a few times with the clue bat.

I really enjoyed the reboot, but if they don't want my money, oh well.
