That's ingenious! I've always been impressed with how Valve work, but this is really out there. That ASCII art is one of the most beautiful things I have ever seen, geektastic.
And now the game has been confirmed I'm super hyped, especially if the cover of Game Informer is correct and we will be allowed outside, those possibilities excite me. I was hoping the portal gun would make it into Half Life, hopefully Portal 2 will set this one up for me.
Anyway, I'm off fire up Portal and check this new ending out.
OMG! Portal 2!!!! I hope my computer will be able to run it...

LOL, I've just seen the end of Portal, again! But this time it's different. Only slightly, and you have to wait till the very end, but it is enticing enough. Sweeeeeeet!

Same concern here. I actually use Crossover on a Mac in order to play Steam games, which works quite well but which is quite likely to not have support for a new game like that right away. However, I have great hopes, for Valve has simultaneously been teasing a full-on Mac OS X port of Steam. I'll use my "work" Macbook Pro--with its much higher specs than my personal Macbook--hooked up to an external Firewire drive (for proper separation of work and play), if possible.

A friend of mine actually hacked into half life to give himself the portal gun - they use the same engine, after all. Making it really easy to kill the enemies, since they weren't programmed to respond to portals.

That sounds really fun, I should try to figure that out.

Yeah, Valve has a reputation for putting out very well thought out games. They have both story and good gameplay. Even the characterization of the classes in TF2 is really well done and thought out, especially for an arena shooter. Portal was very unique, it had these little hints of other being there, others who went insane too. It was a little freaky, not knowing what happened to everyone on your first playthrough. Then the personality of the overseeing voice is very well done. It made Glados seems human, it was lonely, but kind of crazy at the same time. The levels were well designed. They weren't out to make puzzles that would make your eyes bleed out of frustration, they were very well designed. They saved the real tough ones for the bonus levels lol I would like to see more interaction, and some more story. I really enjoyed how Portal slowly ramped up in difficulty, and just as the same environments were starting to get tiring, you break out into the "back" of the facility and everything gets a little more interesting. It seems likely that sort of thing will happen in #2. Oh, and awesome music is a must. Also, wouldn't something like Portal Combat be cool? Use portals to throw your foes into an incinerator and stuff like that.

Did anyone complete the new "transmission received" achievement? I'm playing through the game again in order to see the new ending first-hand, but I've also decided to go for this challenge. I'm not usually into achievements, but this one essentially adds a new little puzzle to every test chamber, because it requires that you (1) find the hidden radio, and (2) figure out where (and how) to bring it in order to receive the transmission (but it will drown out the music with a static noise the closer you get). So far, several of the radios were very difficult to reach, and others took a bit of thinking in order to figure out where it might want to be taken.

I've actually never played Portal before. I think now would be a good time for me to check it out. I don't know if I should just get the Orange Box or download Portal: Still Alive off the XBLA instead.
@Swiket Good job finding those scans! Now I just gotta read them.

I completed it. It was pretty fun to replay Portal, and it reminded me what a great game it is. Also, keep in mind that there might be more than one radio in each testchamber.
Indeed, the last chamber I played was the first (I hope) in which there were 2 radios. I don't believe I've missed any so far, although I still have quite a ways to go. I love the fact that they chose radios for this, because I can just listen carefully for the music as I progress through the areas, instead of having to scan every inch of my surroundings visually with no hints.

I've been meaning to play Portal for awhile now too so this seems like a good time to finally get The Orange Box. Quick question though, should I get the PC Version or the 360 Version?
