for one: dating is outlawed by society. It's considered a breakage of the moral fabric to date one-on-one while in high school. and even in college, it's more common and "socially accepted" to do group dating.
secondly, as I've noticed while being a teacher in Japan, it amazing (astounding, really) how many young teens have crushes on anime characters. I mean, they're just cartoons! But girls have dozens of pictures of male anime characters, and draw hearts around them, and so on and so forth. By the looks of those many PVC figures of anime girls in bikinis, it's also the same deal for boys, and I would think the gay community as well.
Anime crushes are as big a business as the North American fascination with "teen celebrity hunks" like Justin Bieber, or whatever.
"From the creator of Homestuck, Andrew Hussie, and the worlds largest game maker, NAMCO BANDAI Games, comes an all new gaming experience; NAMCO HIGH. As a cousin to the Prince from Katamari Damacy you will meet total strangers with nothing in common, but before it is all over you'll break rules, bare your soul, and touch each other in ways you never dreamed."
I didn't think any upcoming game could match Conception 2, but this is doing just that.
Well there's a female character who (as far as I know at least) is friends with the panda. So I could see the panda showing up at least. It could be like Gemini from Sakura Wars EXCEPT WITH A PANDA.
